kevvvvv wrote: Sun Dec 15, 2019 10:52 am KVR isn't a place for obtaining or discussing warez, cracks, porn, politics, etc.
The difference here is that nobody is discussing warez per se, but only mentioning them to make a point about what is happening for every legit user.

Changes to the legit software were made because of warez.
The subject is changes to legit software, not warez.

IF someone said that Avenger might have to change copy protection again if who got around Auto-Tune's codemeter protection takes a look at Avenger, I wouldn't classify it as warez discussion, because it concerns the legit user using the legit software and it's inextricably tied to the matter at hand.

Since you're a moderator inform me please, how can we say that sylenth1, rapid, and other software didn't need to use third party copy protection systems and yet their software is still "safe from some evil men work aimed to distribute alternative version of said software through non-legal means" without making it about warez/cracks per se? This is important, because I don't want to trigger anyone and get banned just because a discussion about the legal software (so, not warez) needs to mention (NOT discuss) one of the topics which discussion is forbidden?

I hope you understand the point I'm trying to make.
I hope you understand another point, kevvvvv as do I and other mods actually need to make this reminder because if we dont then eventually it will go astray. Some of the wording in this thread is inviting such talk. Mentioning warez in itself could lead a new member to say what's warez and seek it out just on that one word.
Members are asked to respect the copyright of other users, sites, media, etc. Users linking to, asking for information about, or blatantly bragging about using, warez, crackz, pirated sample content, re-printing material without permission, etc. will result in your post being edited / deleted, and you may be issued with a warning and / or a ban.
there is your actual rule, the problem is it is very easy to forget and to make a point one might link to a site as evidence (happened many times), I myself have got posts from members telling me I dont need to say this stuff often...but we do, as did kevvvvv in this case. It's just a reminder, that's all, we really need to enforce this rule very tightly because this is something if not constantly being monitored could bring down this site.

It should not affect any members us making these reminders, we get many new members a day so we need to stay vigilant everyday :)
The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another's world. It requires profound, purpose‐larger‐than‐the‐self kind of understanding.

I see. Even though I think pretty much everyone with an internet connection knows there might be illegal versions of a program I can understand if there are clueless people that go and try to seek the information (they might as well seek it after reading the rules themselves), or above everything else if it can compromise the website (that seems more obvious and I definitely agree with).
Still, I hope that, regardless of the choice of words, mentioning the phenomenon doesn't automatically fall into trasgression territory, as long as it's not linking, provinding informations about how to obtain them, bragging about using or knowing whereabouts of pirated content.
As an example, would it be ok or not to say that a certain software had their protection defeated, in case that software uses the same copy protection method?

Can we stop talking about illegal, legal, freeware blablabla? It is about avenger and i think everyone knows there are legal methods and illegal.... geez.... and also everyone should know taking something which costs normally and is hosted on inofficial pages and suspicious as free isnt new and legal... and only because something gets cracked shouldnt be taken as an excuse to do the same....

I wait still until codemeter is confirmed working well then i upgrade.

I am one of those guys who need/must have a Dongle but to be honest Vengeance at this point is not forcing you to have a Dongle. It's your choice to have a software or hardware protection. Only down side is, you need to "refresh" every 90 days your activation but I am ok with this.
My DAW machine is offline and I intend to keep it that way, so (if I understood correctly) I'm forced to get the dongle (does this also reset the license every 3 months?). At least at this time, because:

Guess I missed this announcement... Thanx! I'll temper my fury and wait then.

My studio computers (5 in number) are also offline in a closed network, that's one more reason why I need the Dongle. The downside is I don't have any info IF with the Dongle we have to reset. I ordered one and I have to test myself. I will post news how stable and how practical it is when I get it.

Given that I'm seriously considering phasing out iLok on my systems, I don't want CodeMeter on there either. Especially if (as seems to be implied from comments here) you can permanently lose license activations if something goes wrong with your computer and you can't do a deactivation.

The way I see it, I paid for the software, received it and can use that software. As for upgrades... paid or free, I can choose to upgrade, or not.

If you want to talk the price of putting in copy protection, well... I was fully intending to buy one, maybe two of the pick-packs for the expansions, as they do sound impressive. Due to this CodeMeter nonsense, I didn't buy any, and likely won't in the future unless the copy protection is rolled back to something reasonable and kept that way.

In the meantime, I suppose they can look forward to fun support requests from me as I try to keep the old version working indefinitely :)

is support still available for pre 1.5? i think not?

Hi!
I have to get a new graphics card to be able to edit my drone videos. Does anyone know if this will affect my Avenger 1.4.10 installation? And if it does, will I be able to authorize it again or will I have to go to 1.5?

EDIT: In the end, it was chrome. I tried Firefox and all went well.
Chrome version: Version 78.0.3904.108 (Official Build) (64-bit)

Wow, I just cannot get Codemeter to activate avenger on my machine OR for the dongle. It's the propellerheads ignition key. On the vengeance website, it says "no CM Containers found". Then I try to do it file based, using the CmFAS assistant, and entering the Firm Code 6000977. I Click Commit and get "An error occured on communication level. CmDongle Version is too old, error 94.

This is CmStick 2.04. I've downloaded the latest Codemeter, rebooted multiple times, etc. I'm left with vps-avenger that I cannot update, and that I cannot authorize either to the dongle or directly to my computer! Ughh, I've lost a couple hours to this already. I don't like that there's literally NO WAY I can authorize! Pretty gross customer experience. I've scoured through the topic and noticed others having problems with authorizing on a system that has the ignition key, but I can't find any solutions. Frustrating.

I've also tried the youtube video about authorizing that has been posted.

They said the CmDongle has to be version 3.
