Im getting ready to buy one or the other today. I want to know your opinion on which one works better for trap music products. I always thought when it comes to producing trap/rnb that FL was way above all other Daws, but i downloaded the demo of bitwig, and i was blew back by how easy it is to come up with sounds. Has anyone here used both, and whats your opinion?

I have and use both. It doesn't depend on genre you produce, it'd all about your personal preferences. I use BWS more since it suits me better, but I really like FLS too since it forces me to think differently. Also lifetime free updates are nice.

But demo demo and demo some more and then decide, which one suits your workflow better and gives you the results you want, how you want and when you want.

Depends on your preference, for me personally FL have nothing to offer over Bitwig, I'm more into Drum Machine rack and my drum pads than penciling notes in FL's step sequencer, also into playing opposed to again penciling all in piano roll, so again, FL's famous piano roll does nothing for me.

What does it for me is addition of fast Browser, Clip Launching area and touch screen on top of all that massive creative fun, but than again, I like to jam and interact more opposed to just enter values and hack my way out.

FWIW.. I tried and really got into FL. (I am a cubase user). The DAW is amazing and has very fast workflow.

Sorry, no experience with Bitwig. I have a lite license I might try out over holidays if I have time.

For me FLS has everything I need from a DAW but ARA.
It's missing no features that are on my list other than ARA
Nearly perfect DAW in my opinion.
Sorry know very little about Bitwig for me me it is missing a few features I require.

So now have retreated to Studio One 4.5 but Reaper and then Cubase are my go to DAW's as they all have ARA.

Try to make a (draft) track in both and see for yourself. Peronally I've tried FL several times and I just can't work in it - too much multi-level menus everywhere, the relations of patterns, playlist and mixer is confusing (sort of fixed in 20, but still…), I really hate the GUI and the fact that it is defacto associated with trap music that I despise (sorry...). But I've also heard AWESOME music done in it so I guess the tool doesn't really matter - it's how you use it.

I think that you really need to test by yourself and learn both if possible. The problem you might find (even despite you might find some answers) is a lot of biased advises like "come on... use this one, buy this product"... and you have to be careful with all of that.

For instance, I dislike completely the $170 a year for updates bitwig is asking and how overhyped is.

Also I have seen fl studio more associated with house, garage, rap, d&b ext. So you can see how different opinions and feeling are.

Demo for yourself and see what's the best for you, there are advises you should follow and others you should ignore; watch some videos if there is something you don't understand or read both manuals.

I'm using FL just because of its scale highlighting feature and because Bitwig switched on the vent fan of my mac instantly (independently of its CPU consumption)

So true! ;) Like all those people going around the internet you have to pay $169 a year for Bitwig, where in fact throughout the year you can get it for $129 AND that you DON'T have to upgrade every year - you can renew the plan only when cumulative features added since the last version you own (forever) justify it. Like now - I have 3.03 full working and 3.1 was JUST announced, but I probably won't apply my extension code that I bought at $129 during the summer, because I don't need those features and will probably wait until 3.2 or 3.3.

It's not a subscription, ok??

The just announced 3.1 apparently reduces GPU load :)

I like and use most DAWS, they all have there pro's and con's. The only 2 mainstream DAWS I realy dont get on with personally are Reason and FL Studio...its just a personal thing, I just dont click with the GUI or workflow and as someone who predominantly records live singers/guitar etc I dont think I am the target market.

I do use BWS for experimental sound design and with a couple of ES8's to run my modular...BWS, Live, Reason and probably FL (I doint realy know enough about it to comment) may also be considered specialist or gender specific tools unlike the mainstream 'you can record a 10 piece skiffle band with this' Linier DAWS....

As has been suggested, you realy need to decide what it is you want to write/produce/record and then use the tools available to see what clicks with you, they are all amazing and can make great music in the right hands (and visa versa!)
X32 Desk, i9 PC, S49MK2, Studio One, BWS, Live 12. PUSH 3 SA, Osmose, Summit, Pro 3, Prophet8, Syntakt, Digitone, Drumlogue, OP1-F, Eurorack, TD27 Drums, Nord Drum3P, Guitars, Basses, Amps and of course lots of pedals!

I used FL Studio for years. I think it's kind of become a mess of legacy code and designs with more modern stuff layered on top of it. I honestly haven't looked at the most recent version though, so maybe it got some cleanup?

I moved from FL Studio to Maschine (as my only DAW, not as a plugin in another DAW), and stuck with Maschine a while even though I moved to more experimental and dark ambient music, simply because I was familiar and comfortable with it and could really fly around it compared to FLS.

I converted to Bitwig a couple months ago and it's perfect for me, and super flexible... I think it's probably got something to offer most people regardless of genre.

FL Studio is cheaper, but Bitwig is just better in every way as far as I'm concerned. Of course DAWs are highly subjective :)

FL hasn't got clips (launcher) based workflow, so if you would prefer this workflow choose BWS
