So many mediocre presets - which developers deliver quality instead of quantity in 2019?

For discussion and announcements of soundware - patches, presets, soundsets, soundbanks, loop libraries, construction kits, MIDI libraries, etc.

Excellent resources, guys - much appreciated! Surprised by how U-He focused a lot of the preset makers mentioned are, especially Zebra, but that's ok!

Liero wrote: Tue Nov 12, 2019 2:00 pm I've never really been into synth presets, but being swamped with work recently I've had to find ways to get results for clients faster. Diving into preset developers offerings my initial reaction is that...

a) there's way too many preset products with way too many presets, and

b) the average quality and usability of a preset is dismal

Not knowing the industry players very well, are there any recommended preset makers that value quality over quantity? Who really go deep into synths to deliver something original? I'm really not at all picky about genre - a good sound is a good sound - but I'm maybe slightly more interested in new sounds than emulating the same old vintage tones.

Help appreciated!
Vst's presets have become better than before but still there are many superfluous presets. Hw synths have existed longer and better presets in general. Many favorite synth sounds ppl ask about are not a preset but stacked sounds. If you find something in a preset you like, start with it.

I like to have my share of good sounds.
Some good ones have been mentioned.

Howard Scarr does great for U-he products.

SteveW is great for Reverbs and Fx plugins:

VSP has some of my favorite Omnisphere 2 sets (and other synths):

The Unfinished are always interesting:

There are others but these are my current go to.

I'd like to mention Mikael Adle aka Leap into the Void:

They've already been mentioned but some of my favorites:

Luftrum: A pads genius. Fantastic sound design all around. Each library maintains quality and uniqueness. Absolutely beautiful, emotional and stunning work. Glad I have the original Luftrum library for Alchemy which I still use today.

PlugInGuru: Terrific sound designer who graciously offers programming tips/tricks on a weekly live YouTube stream. His videos are easily worth the price of a few libraries. His work is modern and relevant. Fun and enjoyable. Expressive. Terrific range of styles, sounds, and design.

The Unfinished: Uniquely beautiful. His sound design has a way to make something that sounds almost familiar, completely new. It could be a strings sound or a guitar, but then he adds an amazing twist, providing his special signature stamp.

Imagination is main tool when it comes to originality, for mass production just listen top charts and use what sounds similar.
Not always more complex harmonic content fit better needs of the mix.Cheerz :)
