A lot harder than inititally intended and ended up falling more in the Full-on category than Forest.
I think it came out quite well though. Still needs final mixing, etc. which is the bane of my life :ud:

It did manage to teleport me to the dance floor for a good work out even though that’s not my thingy.

I think it does maintain a pretty high level of energy and sufficient interest throughout for dance.

Thanks for the listen, Phil.

Trying to cut back on all social media lately. I think it was the NI thread that pushed me over the edge :x

Sounds decent enough. And I get there's no melody in this genre but there still isn't enough variation in the arrangement to keep it interesting for over 6 minutes. On the plus side, it isn't just a loop played for 6 minutes. And the few breaks do help. Just needs something else to bring it to the next level. As I am in no way an expert in this genre, I have no idea what that is. Perhaps somebody like Recursive can pop in here and give you his two cents. He knows his stuff when it comes to Psytrance.

On a scale of 1 to 10, I give it a 7, which isn't bad.

Hey MushMush...
I get that.. same here.. too much doing nothing...
I spend more time wiv' me rack now... loving it...

As to the track... oh boy...
music has that wonderful ability to transport us... and take us back (or future ;) ) to what we remember....
the pounding beat.. those classic sounds...
the dark rooms with pulsing lights, heart beating, chemicals rising...
feel it ... be it...
let it take you.... moving .. grooving... searching
all loved up and searching...
who... tonight.. the hunt.. the
upstanding... outstanding...

Thanks Wags.

Melody in this type of psy is few and far between. As soon as any melody is introduced it morphs into Morning Psy (yes that’s a genre name  ) which I do like but it’s not my preferred genre. I don’t think I’ve ever heard a dark Psy track with melody; it just doesn’t work. Happy to be enlightened and proven wrong though.

Regarding variation: I will add a few more elements and continue the automation in a few days; just need a break from it for now.

Yeah, I kind of figured that, which is why I don't get too hung up on melody for this genre anymore. But then it does still need something to make listeners go "Ooo, that was cool" or whatever. There are a few moments here. And truthfully, not a ton of work is needed on this one. Just a surprise here and there.

After doing my "trance" CD, I'm gonna leave the EDM stuff to the EDM guys and do what I do best.

Now that’s some feedback :D

Studio pics are still coming. Just sorting out a few other financial priorities right now unfortunately so most likely Nov/Dec is when the next Thomann order will be placed. Until then the studio is still very much in an unfinished state.

Thanks man.

I’m a bit annoyed about the Dalek thing TBH. I love Dali and was watching a documentary on him whilst playing with Softube Modular and Clouds. The track name came to me then and it was only a few days later I Googled it to find I wasn’t as original as I thought I was.

Yes, true. I hope the “ooooh” will come from some additional sound design and automation in the next mix of it. I find taking a break from projects and revisiting a little later shines a whole new light on improvement areas.

Keep at it if that’s what you like :tu:

Squishy and mushy in a pleasant way. Nice vocal processing. Fun squelches with jagged edges. Definitely has that high flavor.
