I was reading the Ryzen thread here and it sounds like AMD is doing well with this CPU line.
I've always gone Intel, but I'm thinking of AMD for my next build. Is there a motherboard brand that is considered very stable in the AMD world?

I think ASUS has almost Half the world motherboard market share for a reason. Even their cheapest boards have never failed me. This is not a Monsanto styled Intel business practice, mostly being badass and reliable especially when others were not. If.

I have Asus B350-plus that I bought more than one year ago with Ryzen 1600x. It is good. I don't have a problem with it and it has m.2 support, so I just bought few days ago one (ADATA XPG SX8200 Pro PCIe M.2 2280 512GB SSD) and I cloned Windows 10 to it while cloned Ubuntu linux to the old SSD. Now, both are flying really
Anyway, I always buy either Gigabyte or Asus motherboards as I always have good experience with those two brands (for AMD and Intel). I just chose Asus because it was about $20 cheaper than the equivalent Gigabyte at that time!

You should never ever go by brand, you should go with specific models. There's no company that don't fail from time to time. I suggest you have a look at some tech channels on Youtube like Hardware Unboxed, Gamers Nexus, Level1Techs, Tech Deals.

I've been using an Asus Prime X370 Pro with my Ryzen 1800X since March 2017. It has been very solid and the support has been great (the latest BIOS update came just about a week ago on the 24th).
I do think there are differences between different brands in terms of stability and long-term support. Asus and Gigabyte are the ones I'd rate the highest.

Asus, Gigabyte and possibly MSI are commonly referred to as the tier 1 board suppliers.

Really, any name-brand motherboard shouldn't have stability problems. If you're overclocking your hardware, there's a chance that your system as a whole may become unstable, but even then it's not an inherent stability problem with the motherboard.
For simplicity's sake, brands like Gigabyte, MSI, amd Asus are pretty well-known.
