There are some reviews of poor audio quality. I need to listen more attentively to judge it. It sounded passable on my first listen.

I’d be concerned that they don’t mention the maker. This suggests a low-quality Chinese source. An alternative would be the two-device Anker + Apogee solution I mention on the Hooking It Up page, though it’s more expensive.

I bought a couple of the cheap knockoffs off ebay and Amazon, but they did not work. I ended up buying the overpriced official Apple one. $40 for $1 in parts. I'm in the wrong profession!

Is it overpriced if it works? And are the knockoffs a bargain if they don't? I always buy real Apple, because real Apple doesn't let me down. My time is worth so much more than a $25 difference in price.
