This synth looks interesting. Seems there's a lot more going on with it than meets the eye. Great price too.

What's with all this stupid trolling in the HARDWARE group?

Picked up the CraftSynth 2 and the sounds this puts out are what I would describe as lush. You can get a very warm tone here. If you come up with a harsh digital sound, you can smooth it right out if you want. I've gone through all the banks, and the presets are mostly all decent. I've come up with some great sounding melodies already with it. Mono vs Poly? I've never run into an issue with *needing* poly yet. Many synths have a quasi osc/polyphonic chord mode if I ever need it.

Don't worry, it's just Dave putting on his cranky pants. The fact that he chooses DUNE to compare Craft Synth 2 to is, I think, reasonable in terms of how good it sounds.

As can I with any of my hardware. The Roland Boutique stuff has built-in speakers but it wasn't anything I found useful.

Just bought one. I'm looking forward to going through the osc modifiers. Thanks for pointing out BONES!

Already done. It's a shame you can't have an interface to look at without any gear connected.

Yup, irrespective of the software vs hardware debate, there is still no software that beats the feel of real hardware in your hands, it’s nice to use things that aren’t ‘virtual’ sometimes and it isn’t something you can tally on a spreadsheet of pro’s and con’s, it’s just how it makes you feel.

I disagree. This thing is a lot more like a module than a proper synth and every knob has three different functions. There is a lot of compromise involved in terms of the hardware. It's using it with the software editor and playing it with a MIDI controller that gives the best experience. Knob per parameter synths like Monologue, Minilogue and the Roland Boutiques did nothing for me compared to these Modal beasties. I expect Trueno to take that to an even higher level.

Lucky bastard! They told me there were no cases left.

It's second hand, so presumably one of the original Kickstarter batches.

Dude, thanks for pointing this out. This sounds great, is cheap and would be great to travel with (which is a big deal for me atm). Where did you buy one?

I got it from StoreDJ here in Sydney. If you want something even more portable, have a look at Trueno. Trueno plus your tablet/laptop and a Roli Lightpad Block would be a great portable set-up for when you're traveling.

I thought it was well past time Craft Synth 2.0 got a little more love and attention. I've had mine for a few months now and I'm still impressed with it. I actually find a lot more uses for this than for Skulpt. It's just that bit easier to work with, too, and it sounds really good. If Argon 8 is basically a polyphonic version o this in a proper synth for m factor, it will do really well.

I love the Craftsynth too ... I got two on the kickstarter planning one as a present... but they are so good polychained that that hasn't happened yet. I think the Skulpt is a powerful tool that's a great compliment ... Modal synths are just amazing ... the Argon sounds like more goodness ... and the 00's remain fabulous...
