You prefer MPS2 even over HY-SeqCollection 2?
A brief explanation please.
Might change my mind?

Thanks!

MPS2 lets you assemble "blocks" of sequences. Each block can split a beat into anywhere from 1 to 8 note divisions. You can change/randomize the way those notes are played within a block, you can assemble multiple blocks in different orders, with differing degrees of randomization available, you can adjust the velocity/probability/gate/timing of each individual note within a block.

All of this is possible with just the free version of MPS2. The paid version adds more blocks, more options for editing, and some pretty stunning modulators (which can also be used to modulate parameters within an instrument, as well as parameters in MPS2 itself.)

SeqCollection (both 1 and 2) is fabulous, as are all of the HY sequencers. Just for myself, though, the functions, "controlled randomization," polyrhythmic possibilities (by setting the number of notes in any individual block to 3, 5, or 7, along with more conventional values), and per-note depth of editing in MPS2 makes it my favorite of the bunch.

Did you all know you could use Sonic Academy’s ANA 2 as a midi device? They pass through the midi from their arpeggiator and the chord memory device so you can use it on another track.

Way to bury the lead there, Sonic Academy, lol

Really appreciate you taking the time to help.

The MPS2 randomization sounds interesting and the GUI looks great.
Close call now got closer. The SeqCollection2 still on top.
But now looking at the SeqCollection, RPE, SEQ16x3v2 and MPS2 bundle for $99.
But will I use the RPE and SEQ16x3v2?
Will wait till July 30 to make up my mind.
Perhaps get the free plugins and see where that takes me.

Thanks for midi files links.
Ana 2 is fantastic as midi tool. Three octave arp assignments with each octave containing its own arp, plus arps can be polyphonic unlike HY. Ana 2 chord builder is also outstanding in tandem.

I'm happy to help, and Tadashi really deserves to have his stuff more widely known and discussed.

I would say, definitely download the free versions of all of them and see how you like them! I didn't quite "get" MPS until I played around with it.

And, the free versions and demo versions of the paid ones can coexist in your plugin folder, so you can directly compare them, and see exactly what you'd be getting for your money.

I sprang for the four-pack bundle recently, and am VERY glad I did. :) But, try the stuff yourself, and see how it works for you.

I got all the HY sequencers over the last year, they are superb. Inspirational, fun, powerful. Poly-rhythmic 8)
And I got the v2 upgrade of seqCollection for free.

David,

Ever time I read your praise of Midi Looper I get closer to buying it.

second edit:
I am still looking at Architect but this is a major investment.

My opinion (AND what I've done so far) is to get the Mlooper while it's on sale, and all the FREE devices from HY, until you've found which if any of these you really like (which will no doubt be several!) and then upgrade them at leisure.

Anyone knows it's possible in RPE to stay in the same beat division but change the pattern length like you can in Time & Timbre and Tremor for example.

In RPE you can change a block from size 4 to size 5 for example, but the beat division changes. That is, now you get 5 beats in the same time (say 4/16th) as previously 4 beats in 4/16th.
That's not what I want: I want it to stay in the same beat division (1/16th notes) but I want to change the pattern length from 5 to 4 (effectively taking 5/16th). A odd number works really well for the closed hihats for example where you get a pattern that loops differently than the 4 on the floor of the kickdrum.

Here an example in Tremor where the closed hihat loops in a pattern length of 5/16th (the white arrow at position 6 indicates the end of the pattern and retriggers the pattern to start again at the startpoint) , while the other parts use a classic 4/4 pattern.

...is there any outgoing vst channel-splitter like Polythemus for iOS, note-based, roundrobin, random?
That would rock.
