is this way better then just eq'ing?

Post

Yea eq only attenuates a zone like a big ass brush right? Nothin added only modified you know.
So subsynth finds the fundamental harmonic of your sound and adds subs below it based what you dial in right? Then you got a bunch of other shit like filters and whatever to shape that. Maxxbass finds the fundamental harmonic and adds more above that so peeps usin crap speakers can hear a hint of the sub. Mbassador does all that plus some.

I grabbed waves loair in the ongoing sale. If you need audio added below the existing bits you have it does extremely well. It's like loair does half of what MBassador does, but slightly better, and then Rbass does the other half about as well. Together you can have a more flexible overall setup for a very bass heavy sound, but for quick sweetening MBassador does it all. I've found, for mixing material that I didn't make myself, a combo of waves torque into MBassador can tune up the kick and bass to almost exactly where you need it regardless of any troublesome source material.

It's almost completely different. All these plugins add frequencies that weren't previously there at all that you can then EQ and play with as needed.

My demo sadly is expired. Do you know how mich different the sub process is vs rbass and maxxbass?
It seems to me that lots of the waves “signature” stuff is just using lots of the algorithms they already have and putting them in a different interface. For instance I have “Pusher”and the two low frequency controls seem to just do a combo of the max bass process and the low air process fed to a compressor.

Every dev re-uses his codebase for future plugins. And especially the devs that have a big amount of output (like mentioned in this thread: waves or melda) only combine their modules into "new" plugins. Often they tweak them a bit or make controls accessable to fit the orientation/use of the plugin.

Yep. And I find it pretty useful in this instance. The easy tunaeability of pusher for the bass frequencies is great.

Sweet, I grabbed subsynth in the sale a few days ago, and I have to say it's the low end harmonic generator plugin i've been looking for all these years. (Not to be confused with the likes of RBass/MaxxBass which are upper harmonic generator plugins, and have their own valued place)

I've tried most alternatives, like Lo-Air, Lowender, Thump2 etc, but they have never really worked that great for me, and lack so much of the control and features that subsynth has that I value.

Def worth a look.

Good call! Make sure you familiarise yourself with the Trim 'screws', because setting them right is the key to get good results.
