Good call from Ernst. It appeared to me in the last time that Reason is not really his "baby" anymore, and doesn't apply to his vision any longer. Propellerhead need someone who is less reluctant to nowadays' requirements and thinking (which can be good or bad...). I think, now that Reason opened to VST, they need a plan to make it more in accordance to other VST hosts on the market, so, they really have to beef up on the sequencre side, and make it perform better in terms of VST. The question is whether or not it will still be "Reason" in the future, but, they should have known that, when opening to a platform which was never really planned.

He (Ernst) made a quite interesting comment in a post at Reasontalk:

"I'm now going to sit back and enjoy the speculation.  "

Not sure what to think.

I hope Reason stays a rack based DAW they just need to continue to streamline the interface and focus on workflow and GUI.

1. Regain the confidence of existing customers.
2. Regain the confidence of RE devs.
3. Regain the market share of DAWS.

How do you achieve this? Focus on my tagline.... and prosper.
Have you tried Vital?

Do they live in Twin Peak's red room? :o

Apps, oh no I hope all the focus doesn't go towards apps. Otherwise, we shall see. If they really muff it, Bitwig is looking better by the updated. Even Cubase looks really pretty these days...

Studio One is my fall-back. It does enough and you can rewire the Reason synths in.

He has the right background to take the company on an expansion journey where we reach new target groups while cultivating the core business of high‐quality software applications for music creators.
Hopefully this means less pandering towards people who consider 808 pitchbends and clipping snares to be the pinnacle of music.

+1

Yes please. Really hope they tune up what’s there before focusing on new revenue streams. I basically want it to stay the same, but be faster to get around. Things like trackpad-friendly zooming would make a lot of ‘target groups’ happy right?

‘Save as init’ patches and alternate takes when loop recording midi would make me happy.

They can’t read our minds, but they do read our emails.

I feel like Mattias (the actual Reason Product Manager) has been steering the ship since 9.0 at least, and I am totally OK with that. I’m very much OK with the direction Reason has been going.

If his gaming opinions and perceived history mirrors his product opinions and perceived history, Reason is in a world of trouble. He's way off base on the first, and we can only guess on the 2nd, and I have a proven history of good guessing.

I have no idea what you're talking about, but all I can say is that every feature addition and workflow enhancement that have been introduced since 9.0 have been things I've been crossing off my want list. If he's had any small part in making that happen, then I'm good.

Also, people have been lamenting Reason being in a world of trouble since time began. Seems to be doing just fine, as far as I can tell.
