My fretless bass arrived
https://www.thomann.de/de/harley_benton ... series.htm
First impressions:
- no fret buzz
- cheap knobs
- there's a piece of unraveling cloth beneath the bridge, no clue as to how I can remove it
I also got a self gripping stand without rests for the body. My HB bass doesn't fit; my Variax bass just slides to the floor. Bummer.
Finally, I got some leather plectrums. Never used those before, they seem nice (and the box it came in will come in handy to keep all plectrums in).

Still one of my favourite quotes (whether it's true or not..) is that James Jamerson was once allegedly asked what sort of bass strings he used, and replied, "Dunno. What sort did it come with?"

Beatbass + Re-Guitar = inflatable lightweight upright bass
(It's very, very light and pretty slim. I wonder, can I play while pussycat sleeps on my lap?)
There's no "pink paint" setting though...

Is that so?
I already ordered 2 sets, it seems the OEM snare can be improved upon (going by owners' posts).

Why choose one or the other?
