And planning to buy new desktop.
Can u share your knowlage about dpc latency in desktop?
What i need to be affraid of?

This model does not have good VRM and does not have Thunderbolt port.
The ASRock - Z390 Phantom Gaming-ITX/ac have better VRM and Thunderbolt port.
Get a better cooler like be quiet! - Dark Rock Pro 4, it fits Phanteks Enthoo Evolv ITX.Cpu cooler: CoolerMaster Hyper 212 LED TURBO DUALFAN (2x120mm) - Black

Maybe a case with better airflow like NZXT H200Case: Phanteks Enthoo Evolv ITX Case Tempered Glass RGB Black

On my i9-9900k music PC on LatencyMon on several attempts within an hour I got a message that this PC is not good for audio work:Pictus wrote: ↑Sun Feb 10, 2019 1:50 am Set all CPU cores to the same speed and from https://www.sweetwater.com/sweetcare/ar ... windows-10

One or more DPC routines that belong to a driver running on your system appear to be executing for too long. One problem may be related to Power management. Disable CPU throttling settings in control Panel and BIOS setup.
I did the routine mentioned and after 20 hours the message is green and healthy for audio work.
I did not however do the bottom "changing Bios Settings"
The other item I am concerned about is CPU throttling but not sure how to disable it.
For the record I don’t have any audio programs installed, not even the driver for my Focusrite 2i4.
The latest BIOS F8e is installed on the Gigabyte Z390 Aorus Master motherboard.

Hi
Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but I am thinking assembling a new computer, and was checking old threads, and noticed this one. The MoBo adced above only has one PCIe expansion slot (whch I assume will be taken by the graphics card).
Isn't there any similarly spec one that has more PCIe slots? Doesn't need to be ASRock, may be any brand as long as people have tried it for audio.
I am thinking using the RME UFX+ as the audio interface, but I'd like to have some expansion slots available, just in case.
Advices for the graphics card are welcome too. I plan to have two 4k displays, both driven from the same graphics card.

Oi,
For more PCIe slots, get ATX motherboard.
The RME UFX+ is Thunderbolt version 1, right?
So better get ASRock Z390 Taichi or Z390 Taichi Ultimate
plus https://www.amazon.com/Asrock-Thunderbo ... B072JD1WWK
Will also need an adaptor&cable:
https://www.amazon.com/Thunderbolt-Adap ... B019FPJDQ2
https://www.amazon.co.uk/StarTech-com-W ... 00CIDLJWK/
Some more suggestions like:
A case with USB-C port like this

A silent PSU like https://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/co ... 568-5.html
or https://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/co ... 585-5.html
And NVMe SSD like the Corsair MP510 series that got TOP endurance, good
price and is fast.

Yes, but it is USB3 too. I was thunking in using the USB3 interface instead. I trust USB more over Windows. Nevertheless, I wille xamine your MoBo suggestions.
Do you think a PCIe SSD is better than a SATA one? I was undecided about that. I will of course use a SATA mechanic HD for the audio.Pictus wrote: ↑Fri Jun 14, 2019 10:31 pm So better get ASRock Z390 Taichi or Z390 Taichi Ultimate

What about the graphics card? I read someone advising that a Radeon is preferred over NVidia for audio.
What wil be a good choice for driving two 4K displays?

Well, it is faster...
NVMe SSDs like the Corsair MP 510 is fast, so we can install everything
there, do not need a separate SSD for the OS/progs/samples, else for
some backup scheme like partition/disk image because it is not practical
if it is a 2 TB partition full of data...
Here I create a disk image(Macrium Reflect) from the OS/program disk and
file backup of the DATA(big) disk, we can remedy the situation by creating
2 partitions in the BIG NVMe SSD, one small for the OS/prog and the big
one for the rest...
For backup with external drive, ICY DOCK DuoSwap MB971SP-B

I prefer AMD, see whyWhat about the graphics card? I read someone advising that a Radeon is preferred over NVidia for audio.

For DPC check anandtech motherboard review and page System Performance, theres DPC tests for motherboards...

The DPC latency depends on a lot of things like BIOS/DRIVER/settings/etc
and the systems tested are not tweaked for audio/lower DPC.
For anyone interested in lower DPC:
1- Disable BIOS C-state
2- Set all CORES to the same speed
3- Disable CORE parking https://www.coderbag.com/product/quickcpu
4- Set Windows Power Plan to ULTIMATE

I found this store. It's located in Spain (which is more or less nearby). What do you think of their offers, in terms of price vs offer, as well as suggested components?
