Actually that is not a bad place to start.. I still have it on my win_32 system...
I get you into thinking modular and was one of the first I explored.

Start exploring for free. You can always go commercial is you feel the need.
Another excellent FREE Modular VST.
Sonigen Modular
http://www.sonigen.com/
Win32 and....32 note polyphony. And...no limit in slots.
Let's you explore many synthesis techniques. Can also do both Frequency and Phase Modulation.
The project is apparently abandoned by the developer (before going commercial). Sort of like another excellent Modular, the (commercial) VAZ Modular (that you can no longer buy anywhere) whereof sales just stopped due to administrative issues...

Bit less of a true modular but an excellent and versatile machine to explore all sorts of oscillator/filter configurations:
Seaweed Audio - Fathom Synth
The MONO version is free (the PRO is often very reasonably priced)

Since all of the ones I would've mentioned already have been, there's also KarmaFX Synth Modular- not free, and it's been around for while, but it's fully modular and sounds very good: https://karmafx.net/products

Mux modular by Mutools. Not only its own synth but allows for adding things like adsr and lfo to any vst. Great to have a second adsr on Tal bassline and u no lx.

Also +1 for Fathom.
Both are one man operations still in active development. Both are quality products.

Dear All,
Just to let you know that I bought VM few days ago and am exploring it. It's a bit deep to me and I just load in the template and learn the patching. My progress isn't that fast and I can only build simple things. I couldn't find too many VM tutorial in youtube but if you have any tutorials and think that suit for newbies, please share.
Regards!
