Here's a video containing some of the possible output by Orb Composer S

I would probably say MM3 or Liquid Music by WaveDNA. The other two are overkill.

Are you on mac or pc HiEnergy?
I have Orb Composer Pro S but it’s totally unusable due to constant random crashes.

I'm on PC. OCS loves to crash here, too. But those rare times when this bug-ridden thing runs fine, its output is quite nice.

Perfect place for me to ask a Q! RC users can surely help me here: Rapid Composer as a plugin: is it 'triggerable' for live use, or does it just start blindly playing when transport is engaged? (I've passed on many a step-sequencer / arp / composer because I don't necessarily want them just lurching into action before I tell them to). I require devices that wait for me to send, say, a given note before they begin. I can't find anything about this in their FAQ or manual. I'm interested only in live play - I have zero interest in 'drag-to-DAW' etc. Can anyone advise? Thanks!!

Forgive me if I'm missing something here, but I'm pretty sure that's not what it's used for so there's nothing to find. Something like Maschine, MPC, etc makes plugins that can trigger sounds/loops, but otherwise you would just be playing live into RC.

I think RC might have a section mode where you might be able to assign midi notes.

RC is great for the Chord Progression rules. I have my own ruleset for Maj Scale to come up with progression quickly using the following sequence.

5 3 1 6 4 2 7
Rule is can only go to the right by 1, 2, or 3 at a time, but always miss 7. It's circular (5 3 1 6 4 2 7 5 3 1 6 4 ...)

1 = I, 2 = ii, 3 = iii, 4 = IV, 5 = V, 6 = vi, 7 = blank
SLH - Yes, I am a woman, deal with it.

For the OP looking for a Melody Generator, check out Waveform's Pattern Generator. You could create the MIDI clips in Waveform and export them into your DAW off choice. Not as slick as a plug-in running in your DAW though.

Thanks Topcheese! Understood - in my off-the-path world I often have to use things for... 'not what they are used for'! So I always investigate midi generators & manglers for possibilities.
