October is going to be the Guitar Month @ Blue Cat Audio!
We are releasing today free updates for Axiom, Destructor and the Free Amp plug-in. This update mainly brings drag and drop support for Axiom (full details here) and adds an impulse response loader to all three products: you can now load your own cabinet or reverb impulse responses (IR) into Destructor, Axiom or the Free Amp and tweak them to your taste. Check them out!
At this occasion, we are doing special promotions on guitar software (up to 25% off) until the end of the month. Don't miss the opportunity, we do not have sales very often!
And do not forget our guitar software giveaway: post your video or vote for participants!
(As usual updates are available from the full version download page, available from the link received by email upon purchase).
Enjoy!

Ok, so the ability to load IRs in both Pre and Post Filters is completely insane. What a wonderful new feature. I'm having a bit of a time getting my head around a curve that's both the result of convolution and EQ, but I'm sure all will be clear with experience. The ability to further effect the IR curve with the existing equalizers seems very powerful. Congratulations, and all the best!

Thanks! Glad that you like it! Have you also tried shifting the IR? It gives pretty good results too!

There is indeed quite a bit of traffic on the website, however downloads are fine here. Do you get any error message when the download is interrupted? There could be network issues between our servers and Australia (that's on the other side of the earth after all). By the way, which version have you been trying to download?

Actually I meant "which formats and platforms"? Just in case there would be a problem wit the files on the server...

I managed to get them using Chrome so maybe it has better download management for shaky downloads. Win x64 plugin and standalone where available. All good now.

Saw this about a hour ago on GS. Looks wild. Eager to try it out this morning.Blue Cat Audio wrote: ↑Tue Oct 09, 2018 8:11 pm Thanks! Glad that you like it! Have you also tried shifting the IR? It gives pretty good results too!

For some reason I didn't notice those controls when I was working with impulses yesterday.
I realize you haven't updated the Destructor manual, but could you say a bit about how you handle the sample rates of the IRs? I work at 96Khz session rate, so what rate does Destructor use if the IR sample rate is also 96Khz? And what happens when there's a mismatch between the IR sample rate and session rate? Up/downsample?

There is indeed nothing about this in the manual because it should be seamless: the IR is loaded and stored using its nominal sample rate, and if it does not correspond to the sample rate used for processing, it is re-sampled accordingly, on the fly (up or down).
It means that if you save the current state as a preset and reload it later in another session with another sample rate, it should work fine, without any loss in quality.
And if you want to avoid re-sampling, just load an IR file that has the same sample rate as your session.
Hope this helps!

So just to be clear on the new IR loading feature:
The IR/Mix knob controls the blend of the IR and post-EQ filter curve that's already present? So all the way left would be no IR, all the way to the right is full IR and no post-eq?

No it only controls the blend of the IR. 0% is no IR, 100% is full IR. It does not impact the EQ settings.
