multitimbral automation in sampletank

i hope i've found the right place to ask this. how do i automate channels in sampletank, other than the 1st channel, using tracktion? my controller has no knobs, so that can't be part of the solution. i already know how to assign cc#'s. however, i have no idea what to do with the user automations that show up in the list
