EXE files on MAC? Yes no problem!

Some quick instructions for MAC users:
We are getting many questions about our .exe files and to handle them on MAC computers.
It’s easy. Download Stuffit Expander.
Drag and drop the .exe file on Stuffit.
Enter the unlock code and be careful so you don’t get a “space” character at the end of the code. To avoid that, mark the unlock code more careful; do not double click on it to select it before copy/paste. Or enter it manually.

Hi Lars,
I downloaded Stuffit Expander 11 (mac version). Dragged and dropped the .exe file onto it and got the following message:
An error ocurred attempting to expand 'Voxengo Curve EQ'. A folder was specified when a file was required.
I receive the same message for any other .exe files I have attempted to expand. I also tried using an older version of Stuffit (version 6). Same result.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Jesse

I can only speak for the .exe files we are creating with WinRar on PC.
Our .exe files are compressed and encrypted folders with files and they worked fine to extract on MAC until the latest Stuffit Expander version that seems to have problems with the decryption…
Now we are packing our libraries with .rar and encrypted zip that works better on MAC/Stuffit.
Try downloading our free "RedGrand" and try to extract it.
Best,
Lars

Hi Lars,
I downloaded your RedGrand and it did indeed work. Whatever you guys are doing works much better for us mac guys who are using receptors than many of the other developers. I wish they would do what you are doing.
Thanks,
Jesse

Hello "Jessito1"
I am happy to here that
Yes we try our best to support both platforms, Precisionsound libraries should be working on both MAC & PC, and if not, we solve it.

Hi Lars
I just purchased the Greek Lira and downloaded the PSGL_UNLOCK_LINK_1.exe and stuffit doesn't recognize it. When I click on the other file, PSGL_UNLOCK_LINK.exe it says that the file doesn't exist.
Any help would be greatly appreciated
thank you

I just downloaded the J Celeste library. Stuff It seems to be having a bit of an issue with the unlock code. I'm not sure why, but its not working.
This is on an intel mac, OS 10.5.8 using the latest stuff it. Its pretty frustrating. The free downloads have opened fine, I used a program called File Juicer to open the .exe files..I also had to use that to extract the link to the Celeste download.

The Unarchiver is a more flexible alternative to the OS X built-in extractor that can work where Stuffit doesn't: http://wakaba.c3.cx/s/apps/unarchiver.html (and at least give you a clue if it can't expand the archive). It's donationware
Pacifist (which is shareware) can also be useful for getting inside archives if you only need one or two files from it (although I can't remember if it handles self-extracting EXEs or not).

I like Unarchiver, I find it extracts faster than Stuffit, but I can't use it on password-protected archives; it gives me the "enter password" dialog but just returns an error message when I enter it. I had to start using Stuffit instead!Gamma-UT wrote:The Unarchiver is a more flexible alternative to the OS X built-in extractor that can work where Stuffit doesn't: http://wakaba.c3.cx/s/apps/unarchiver.html (and at least give you a clue if it can't expand the archive). http://macitbetter.com/ certainly did make it all better. For anyone downloaded windows encypted zips i think you should try it. And its has a free 30 day trial.
Now I just have to actually go make some music for the celeste...
