Hi!! I found the tutorial about using AcousM in eXT and it recommends to download SpatSurround12 and Multijoy16 - but the link to the downloads seem to be broken.

Any help for me ?? :P

Other question : is there a way of achieving an enhanced spatiality-surround for HEADPHONES using AcousM ?

Thank you + kind regards [tom]

PS : what is the name of the eXT skin you used for the
tutorial ?

Hi,
Sorry for this late answer,
but the link to the downloads seem to be broken
You are right, I had not updated them with the new version of the site. It is now OK.
Thanks.

No.
They are true multichannel tools.
But you can convert a multichannel mix in a spatial simulation using the Circle Surround plugin (not free...) : http://www.srslabs.com/, or with Maven 3D Pro which is a very nice software : http://maven3d.com/en/index.asp
Also the 3D Panner Studio from Spinaudio and there is a free HRTF plugin but I don't remember the author...
PS : what is the name of the eXT skin you used for the tutorial ?
An old one : XT_FLS6604.gui
Now I prefer the new Default one...

Thank you for answering !! Cheers [T]

Christial Budde has a free HRTF plugin - haven't tried it though: http://www.savioursofsoul.de/Christian/Plugins.htm

Btw.
Will the midi plugins be available soon?
Have you made a midi LFO with a noise / wander waveform? I tried one such LFO but on the noise waveforms the data was output way too fast - usually it's one value pr. period for noise lfos.

thanks for sharing all your great plugins

Yes !! It was this one. Thanks.
I am always dispointed when I hear the spatial simulations compared to the true multichannel, but it is convenient for headphones and finally better than the cheap "5.1 headphones".
When I had made some comparisons between HRTF softs, this plugins seemed to be as good as the SpinAudio ones, but without the GUIs and the movements.
But it can be used at the end of a 5 channels mix, with one instance for each channel.
Will the midi plugins be available soon?
Yes, soooon :)

@ acousmod :

"XT_FLS6604.gui" I really like that - but did not find it at the eXT ressources page. Any tip where Ican download it ?

Is it possible to get 3D/surroundsound through headphones (and the right software) with a simple onboard soundcard or what kind of soundcard do I need for that purpose ?

Regards [tom]

Headphones are just two channels, so any soundcard will do.

Thanks for reply, ohm. Do you have any experience with
surrouns sound for headphones ?

no sorry - I have 8 outs on my soundcard. I only have two monitors in my studio at the moment though so it could be worth checking out.

I have energyXT and just discovered Splat's amazing plugins. Having a blast. I have two sets of unmatched monitors, but hope to soon upgrade to a matched 5.1 set. (one of my sets is upgradable to 5.1)

Ive never heard a convincing phychoacoustic emulation of surround sound with only two speakers. Its like you haver to convince yourself its really surrounding you. Whereas with actual multichannel sound sources.. hell yeah!

They should make headgear that have 5 little speakers in orbit around your head. Now THAT would be something to see. Maybe with a big ol' bubble helmet to keep the sound from annoying your housemates.
You are not a beautiful snowflake.

Ironic that you say the second bit after the first, because the most convincing surround sound effect is indeed experienced with nothing more than a normal pair of headphones. Binaural recording captures 'surround' information in unlimited planes/trajectories, whereas 5.1 diffusion gives you just a 2D plane, often with noticeable holes in it if your speakers aren't set up precisely right. Only drawback to binaural recording is that effect ONLY works on headphones.

Hey, I've just noticed this thread is really old! Never mind, I'll post anyway.

While I'm here, anybody have any handy hints for setting up/composing in 5.1 with eXT.

Yes, a very little detail...

Perhaps that this will help ?
