i loved to sample with the SK-5 when i was a kid.ugo wrote:here's a casio SK-5 i bent a number of years back. never got around to giving it a funky paint job though.
i like the idea of circuit-bending, but am afraid to do it in an apartment... anyway here's some more links i have on the stuff that i didn't see mentioned (hopefully placed in the right category). i also have electronic & sound kit links; lemme' know if you need 'em.

started out as one of these ...
... now ...
... does this ...
http://experimentfour.brinkster.net/ima ... umloop.wmv (circa 5.75Mb)
http://experimentfour.brinkster.net/ima ... radio4.wmv (circa 5.75Mb)
(audio only ... http://experimentfour.brinkster.net/ima ... umloop.mp3 ... http://experimentfour.brinkster.net/ima ... radio4.mp3 (circa 1Mb each))
... less a usable effect per se ... more a toytown FSU in a box ...

almost time to go back to school ... but managed to squeeze this in (the speak-n-read / yamaha pss-140 / bizarre toy keyboard on its way from scotland will have to wait ... just got a casio VL5 too but im sad and have fallen in love with its cheesiness so i think that might stay stock) ...
... started out as a crappy little theremin type thing i got off ebay a couple of years ago ...
... i broke the volume pot on it a while back so gutted it ... found a couple of distortion bends and a body contact noise connection ... rehoused the whole thing in an emptied out halfords own brand bike light i found all corroded up in the shed ... lick of paint and its as bad as new ...
now less anything like a theremin ... more a noise source modulatable by waving your hand around ... might do some audio / video tomorrow if anyones interested ...

cool cool stuff,
BTW I have a CASIO SK 8 which could be circuit bended
to play arabic scale and sounds, they are on chip,
I tried that and it works, but I got no spare time to do the actual soldering and mods,
if someone wants it let me know

Thats some EVIL stuff Rob!
Thanks for posting the vid - its great to see these things in action. Audio is fine but you get a real 'Feel' for the instrument when you can actually see it in action!
Just a BTW... where do you folks get your toys to bend? I've been to all our local Oxfam shops and they have nothing. Toystores sell great stuff but they are new and priced accordingly. Been watching some stuff on e-bay but shipping to Ireland is often 2 to 3 times the price of the actual item
