I had that thought also.

Current ST2 libraries will be upgraded to ST3. We will be using ST3's onboard effects and making new patches. If you purchase an ST2 title during the month of July, you will get a free upgrade to the ST3 version of that pack when it becomes available. For those of you that may already have all of these packs, the upgrade price to ST3 versions will be $10 per pack. If you have any questions, you can PM me or you can ask in this thread for those that might have similar questions.

All the Instrument Expansions and Retank Expansions are on sale at $10 each right now.

Allen - how will the new ST3 patches differ from the current ST2 patches?

With three days to go. Any info on what Esoundz will be offering as an incentive, if anything?

I'm likely to purchase from IK tomorrow evening, if nothing is forthcoming. I hate leaving things to the last minute. :)

We are offering a SampleTank 3 expansion library called "Essential Keyboards" that will supplement the factory SampleTank 3 content with a stereo multi-velo grand piano, Rhodes electric piano, clavinet, 4 Mellotrons and 2 Hammond organs sampled with slow and fast Leslie speeds. All of the content in this library is vastly different than what is included with SampleTank 3. This library is FREE to everyone who purchases SampleTank 3 from eSoundz within July.

We will also sell Essential Keyboards on eSoundz for $49, half off its MSRP of $99, during the introduction of SampleTank 3. So if you have purchased ST3 elsewhere, you can still get this expansion library.

Will the st2 libraries work in st3 without the upgrade?

Also... Will the Squids Rare Instrument collections be seeing an upgrade?

Ouch! That will add up quick for those of us who have most or all of the ST packs :o A few questions please:

1. Will SampleMoog and SampleTron both be included (upgraded to ST3 format)? At $10 each?
2. Will there be bundle pricing for upgrading everything at once? Or, maybe a group buy, bogof, etc.?
3. Other than making use of the new FX, are there additional features (e.g. keyswitching) with the upgraded packs?

Thanks, Allen

Yes the ST2 titles will work in ST3. Im sure the Rare titles will at some point get an upgrade as well.

1) SampleMoog and SampleTron are IK products. Sonic Reality provided the sounds for those products. Im not sure if those will be getting an "upgrade" or who will do them if they do.

2) I'm always down to make deals. These will be handled on a case by case basis and those that are interested can contact me directly on that. allen(at)esoundz(dot)com

3) Im not 100% sure about keyswitching but I will find out.

IK Multimedia has only mentioned Importing those libraries. Some users have asked for the libraries to be supplied in ST3 editions

Thank you. So, if, for example, I load an Sonic Reality ST2 preset with EQ/Comp, Chorus and Delay then I load the same-named Sonic Reality ST3 preset they will sound different?

I suspect if you or I import an ST2 sound it will load like, well, an ST2 sound whereas, any ST3 editions that get released will be freshened up and feature some of the added functionality of the new engine.

Sorry I wasn't clear Don - I was referring only to the Sonic Reality SampleTank Expansion libraries.

We're going to be including an exclusive $99 MSRP new library called "Essential Keyboards" for FREE to anyone who purchases any of the SampleTank 3 products (regular, upgrade...) from http://www.esoundz.com (You can also purchase the library separately if you already pre-ordered ST3).

As for the update to the existing titles, this will be something we'll be doing over the next couple of months. It's mainly a PATCH/PROGRAM update to the existing sample sets we have had for SampleTank 2. The new patches take advantage of the gorgeous new modeled effects inside SampleTank 3. Each instrument library from Sonic Reality will have 100 or more tasty new SampleTank 3 versions of the sounds that are in that collection. Note that there aren't new samples included and therefore these updates will not include things like keyswitching... that will have to be part of NEW sample sets which we are of course also doing!

To answer the question about whether the sound updates will be free, we can't afford to do all the work updating them and not charge something so the updates will be just a nominal $10 per library BUT if you have a lot of ST2 libraries you bought from eSoundz (had to have been purchased from eSoundz for this) you can talk to Allen, eSoundz' customer support manager, and he can work up a bundle deal just for you and save you potentially quite a bit. We're generous and always find ways to take good care of eSoundz customers. But, understand we do need to still bring in current funds for sound work otherwise... how could it possibly continue? Makes sense. If you buy SampleTank 3 from eSoundz maybe Allen will give you one of the sound upgrades to an SR ST2 library for free. He's one of the nicest guys in this business as many of you know.

Any NEW sales this month of SR SampleTank 2.5 libraries will come with a free upgrade to the ST3 versions as part of a promotion. Again the reason for that is because, well, first of all the ST2.5 are soon to be out-dated and will eventually be replaced by the ST3 versions. Secondly, it brings in the funds we need to be able to offer it. They are essentially buying the ST3 version as a virtual "pre-order" on sale and having the ST2.5 to use until it becomes available (it will be available as each library is updated in ST3).

There are a lot of great new sample sets to look forward to for SampleTank 3 including many that haven't been released in any format as well as some iconic Sonic Reality libraries that have never been released in SampleTank format before we can expect to come out in SampleTank 3 format this year! I'm personally very excited about ST3. We've waited a long time and I STILL use SampleTank 2.5 on just about every project I work on. So, SampleTank 3 is only going to be that much better!

Yes and yes! ;)

Correct. You can always just import the ST2 sounds into your ST3 and do any new patch programming yourself. But if you want 100+ NEW patches making those samples come ALIVE with the new engine's effects and other features then for essentially the price we'd charge for a patch library you can get it for the libraries you already know and use.

But, again, if you want to update say 10 X ST2 libraries from Sonic Reality THAT YOU BOUGHT FROM ESOUNDZ (key point - and that it can be verified by Allen) and you want to update all 10... who knows? Maybe you'll end up paying a LOT less than you think. I can't quote any prices here though but when the time comes just talk to Allen and he will be more than fair enticing you to want to take advantage of all of this new sound programming on classic SR sounds!
