working with sampletank drum kits

I was working on a track (tinkering now) and the biggest problem I have now is with the drums. Mostly a matter of technique as I'm new at putting complete tracks together. It's in the music cafe in case you need a reference.

How many of you load up two instances of the same drumkit and then process them on different channels, dedicating one to say, the bass and snare, and one to the hats\cymbal?

I haven't tried it yet, but I thought I would put the idea forward and see how people are using the drum kits.

To me saddly hihats sounds ugly in these all others works well. I mean i talk drum sounds in ik multimedia total workstation 2.
