Most of those two Rare collections are sounds unique to themselves, not in Sonik Synth or other titles.

Does anyone have an answer for this?
MojoChopper wrote:Although I have all of these except for Sampletron, the Sampletank sound library I have is actually from version 2.0XL of Sampletank.

I seem to recall that there was a significant update to the sampletank library from 2.0XL to 2.5XL. Is that so?

If so, it may be worth getting in just to get the 2.5XL soundset finally, as well as complete the set with Sampletron, something I planned to do anyway.

If I buy one of the instruments from eSoundz, will I have the option of downloading the one I buy or do I have to take a box delivery? (I realize I can download the free ones, but I would also prefer to download the purchased one as well) If I can download the purchased one, would that download be from eSoundz or IKMultimedia?
Thanks!

Have you checked your account at IK?. Such an update (2 > 2.5) uses to be free for current users.

Yes, I am current with my IK account. The engine updates from 2->2.5 were free but the sample library updates were not. There were supposedly some significant updates made to the sounds to take advantage of the engine improvements. The cost of obtaining the updated samples were north of $200 the last time I looked into it.

Actually, I'm more concerned about whether or not there is an option to download a virtual instrument when purchased from eSoundz, or if a boxed delivery is the only option. Does anyone know the answer to that?

Thanks!

Just a quick note here. The Wild Card is almost ready. Final touches and it will be available tomorrow in your user areas if you bought the Group Buy Xpansion Tanks from www.esoundz.com still not too late!

Thanks Dave.

I think with all of my Sonic Reality samples for SampleTank and Infinite Player samples like Drum Masters, Ocean Way Drums, Yamaha C7 Grand Piano, etc., I'm at the point where I could buy a new hard drive and label it "Sonic Reality Samples!" I think I'm getting a good deal of your vintage synth and Tron collections, but with significantly less cost, space, service issues and -- in the case of the Smellotron -- aroma than the real things.

Cool video. I wish I could have some of those Optigan opitical discs to hang on my wall, or something. I'm gonna have to start paying more attention at garage sales. ;-)

One flaw with the video, though... you didn't finish the story about going to the Jon Brion session with the real Mellotron and also with your samples "just in case". Isn't the punchline of the story that the Mellotron misbehaved and you ended up using your samples?

And out of curiosity, who was the fellow talking in the background?

Oh, that's Erik Norlander who is now Sonic Reality's managing director. He used to run the Alesis keyboard/digital instruments department when they made the QS and Andromeda etc. My video was the second one. The first one was him talking about helping us sample Moog synths for SampleMoog. He's another name dropper like me... but his has a pretentious synth intro... and outro!

He's got a great sense of humor. The Captain Crunch thing just cracked me up.

Oh and good point about the story. I think we ended up using both the real tron and the samples. A real tron has 3 sounds conveniently but a sampler has a lot more. ;) Time is money in the studio.

I remember being at Tony Berg's studio and Aimee was laying there all slinky like and Jon was telling the engineer "do this and do that" and the engineer look at him like "who ARE you?" and that was the beginning of his career I think. Cool to know him back then and see what he's accomplished. What a talent. You could see it THEN - he knew what he wanted and had tons of ideas. Really creative. He's definitely an influence for me. In some ways a mentor but only in a very light sense talking over the years in different situations. I remember one time he came over my house and I was playing him a song that had this cool backwards guitar solo and he was REALLY FEELING it - closing his eyes and twisting around to it. I guess that's how I knew at least THAT part was good. Back then I had these songs that had at least one part that just stellar and the rest of it had issues I guess. The singer wasn't this and that or whatever.

By the way, the Wild Card is still being worked on at the same time Studiophonik Update itself. It's inter-related so I am not quite done yet (wanted to do some combis)... but one more day won't hurt anyone! Especially for BOTH to be available.

Ok, so since no one is answering my question about a download option for the initial purchase at eSoundz, I guess I can assume the answer for that is no.

If I purchase a qualifying virtual instrument at eSoundz, do I at least get the serial number right away to register at IKM to download the freebies, or will I have to wait for the boxed item to arrive first?

You can immediately download almost all Sonic Reality products after purchase when you do it through their download storefront at: http://www.downloadablesoundz.com/

There won't be boxed versions unless you pay extra for it. The serial number is put into your user area on eSoundz.com, but it is done manually, so it how quick it is depends upon when you place your order. If you do it during the day, Allen will usually put the serial number in your area quite quickly.
