ES8 in standalone

Ok...just trying to incorporate the ES8 with my apogee element and Logic pro to send CV signals to my modular. The "aggregate device" thing is a bit confusing as it changes my "mains" etc and is a bit strange, especially with in and out labels etc. Is it possible to run the ES8 from the light pipe ports on my apogee to the ES8 and send CVs from silent way for instance or does that conflict with the DC coupling or whatever..(will sending CVs back and forth through the apogee damage it?) .THAT WAY, I'd have ONE interface with clearly labeled ins/outs for audio AND CV in a clean and elegant fashion. Sorry if the question is confusing...I'm just a musician, and would rather get to making music instead of dealing with complex routing issues! ha ha..

Yes, you can use the ES-8 over ADAT, and not connect over USB, and so not need the Aggregate.
