Question about ES8 + ES3

Hi there,
I'm a happy owner of an ES3 interface already.
With the recent release of VCV Rack and thinking about implementing it or also Reaktor in a modular environment, I think it can be a lot of fun... tried it quickly with a basic audio interface and I like all the extra features it could provide.
Just want to make sure about the technical part.
If I get an ES-8 interface, connected via USB to the computer, then the ES-8 via Lightpipe to the ES-3, could that give me full 8 ins and 8 outs available ?? That would be ideal, not having to deal with other audio interface.
Thanks for your advices.

That would give you 16 outputs and 4 inputs.

Thanks for your answer.
I see... ES3 can only be configured as outputs and not feeding the analog signal back to the lightpipe, right ?
If ES8 has lightpipe input also, there should be an extension for me ins ?
Any cool possible combo to have 8 I/O's ... I'll think, maybe 4ins 8 outs is enough with ES8
Thanks for your explanations and sorry for the basic requests

The ES-6 adds 6 inputs, and the ES-7 adds another 2.
