MuLab 8 now is available as a public beta version.
The main new features are Audio Sequences and Timestretching.
Samples can be sliced into separate sample events and each sample event can be timestretched/pitchshifted as you want. This allows for very fine control and also delivers a fun new palette of creative options beyond traditional timestretching.
At the bottom of this post is a draft movie that shows the basic concept of M8's Audio Sequences and Timestretching.
You can download MuLab 8 here: http://www.mutools.com/mulab/m8
First install the complete M8 package (+-34 MB).
Then update MuLab.exe and MuLab.ID (Windows) / MuLab.app (MacOS) to the latest version in the smaller zip file (+-4 MB).
The (unfinished) MuLab 8 docs are available here: http://www.mutools.com/mulab/m8/docs
The M8 docs will be updated often the next days and weeks.
Edit 16 april: MuLab 8 has been released now and can be downloaded from http://www.mutools.com/mulab-downloads.html
The complete MuLab 8 change log is here: http://mutools.com/mulab-mux-change-log.html
If you have any questions, suggestions, bug reports wrt MuLab 8.0 pls post them here in this topic.
Curious for your feedback.
Cheers!

Thanks! But to avoid confusion: MuLab 8 is not yet released, it's now in public beta. Feel free to jam with the audio sequences and timestretching and please post feedback how it feels for you.
Yes. Maybe not in exactly the same way, but i think that's also an advantage. Please Play with it and let me know how it feels for you.can you do "Live style time warping" now on M8?

Hi Jo,
that looks great! What will be the upgrade price from V7 to V8? Is the GUI already 4K compliant?

All MuLab prices stay the same. So an upgrade from MuLab 7 to MuLab 8 is 25 euro. But until MuLab 8 has been released there is a prerelease promo of 19 euro. Already available on http://www.mutools.com/shop.htmlHanz Meyzer wrote:that looks great! What will be the upgrade price from V7 to V8?
If you buy a MuLab user key now you get both a MuLab 7 user key and a MuLab 8 user key, so you can choose which version to use. For practical reasons it are initial user keys, your permanent user key will be sent when MuLab 8 is released. MuLab 8 is expected to be released in about one month.
It's the same as MuLab 7: It supports screens up to 8192 pixels width and you can scale the UI up to 200%. So i'd say yes MuLab 8 can be used on a 4K screen. Is the GUI already 4K compliant?

Please note that MUX Plugin 8 will not be released together with MuLab 8. MUX Plugin 8 will be worked on and released some time later. That's why there is no upgrade MUX Plugin 7 -> 8 yet.

So, I did a first test of the voice recording and importing the file in CD audio quality. By opening MuLab there is still the number 7 (but this is a small detail). Then, importing the file, in adding tracks, the options on the left are asterisks (I do not know if the icons are missing). By right-clicking I do not find the "normalize audio" option. This option is available if you import the file as "Audio Streaming" but at this point I do not see the difference between importing an audio file as "Audio Streaming", and importing an audio file as "Audio Sequencer". Then, altering the voice (within certain speed limits), you hear that the audio file tends to go slightly in "flanger" or "chorus". You can also hear clips as interrupts, small clip artifacts, but I do not know if they depend on the segmentation in the edit section or some MuLab settings. I left all the MuLab settings as default. The transpose looks good, but also with exaggerated values: 127 and -127 of value are many (perhaps even half would be enough ...).

Sounds like you have dropped the M8.0.44 files in a MuLab 7 installation folder. That's not the correct way. Please see the first post of this topic.Suono & Computer wrote:So, I did a first test of the voice recording and importing the file in CD audio quality. At what precise time(s) in your video do you hear interrupts? You can also hear clips as interrupts, small clip artifacts, but I do not know if they depend on the segmentation in the edit section or some MuLab settings.
