Hi everyone!

I'm looking for the most simple sample player I can find. Let me explain:

I'm getting into atmosphere and FX sound design. Although I'm a Live user, I find FLStudio a much better tool for sound design: risers, impacts, atmospheres, etc.

And the reason for that is Patcher. To summarize: a modular environment inside FLStudio able to work with both native and 3rd party VST plugins, both instruments and effects. Awesome!

Except the Sampler does not work inside Patcher.

Yes, I'll repeat: the included sampler, which has been part of FLstudio since stone age and it's used on almost every project doesn't work inside Patcher.

Hello? WTF?

The only alternative FL offers is the multisampler, Directwave: a huge pain in the ass.

So I'm looking for a very simple replacement for FLStudio internal sampler. In VST Mac format.

Suggestions welcome.

Thanks!

Thanks, pljones. I thought Sforzando would do the trick, but when I threw a WAV sample into it, it started taking about file conversion, choosing a folder for converted samples, blablabla... WTF?

For FX sounds you probably don't need scales and only need a one shot trigger. If that's the case then get Sitala; it doesn't get much simpler to play a sampled sound and it has some nice sound processing thrown in for good measure.

CrimsonWarlock aka TechnoGremlin, using Reaper and a fine selection of freeware plugins.

Yeah Sitala is probably the best option for what you're trying to do. Although if you wanna pay money Mux Modular seems to be exactly everything you wanna do in one plugin for ever DAW. I'd also suggest if just for sound design to download and use Reaper instead just to create you're effects.

Oh, Sitala looks very simple indeed. Thank you!

Thanks for the tip. I'm sorry I didn't explain an important detail, though: I already own a FLStudio Producer license (sorry, I should have said that in the initial message), that's why I want to stick with FLStudio's Patcher component.

Don't let that throw you off : ) Check the settings. When I drag a wav onto it it doesn't ask to convert, it just give me the wav spread across the keys. Probably the first time you run it it asks where to set the file path for its new files and then not thereafter. Same as many apps when run for the first time. Give it another shot. : )

Yes, Sforzando is great! But it is not "most simple".

Sforzando may have a tidy and clear GUI, but it is rather complex and of big potential.
It can do velocity-splits, velocity-crossfading, key-range-crossfading, round-robins.
group-exclusion, key-switches, GUI+parameter-customization etc. ...

If you look for the "most simple" sampler then sitala is the nearest candidate: Just
draw a wav-file onto a pad - and there you are!

Never heard of Sitala before, have to check it out.
