Hi guys & girls
I've been through or just had a few speakers over the years, though not as many as I would have liked to have tried. The Focal CMS, Neumann, PSI Audio, JBLS, Adam T7Vs and my most recent addition is the Kali LP8's. Besides these I've gone down to my local store a number of times to hear some new contenders and ones that I'll never be able to afford like the Barefoots.
When I was new at this game I spent a fair amount of time trying to figure out what I should start with and going through some disappointments. Budget speakers have improved so much since those days.
From my experience my personal recommendations for speakers $500 or under, from speakers I've used extensively are the Adam T7V's and the Kali LP-8's.
I give more thoughts in these two videos:

I've been doing research on the Kali LP series and it appears that the white noise is common with these due to the Class D amps. Most users are saying that it does not affect their mixing though.

Fluid Audio FX8 or new FX50/80 for that budget, most honestly would recommend to raise the budget a little and get amazing Fluid Audio FPX7's.

I've been using the Kali LP-8s since they first came out and I've been pretty happy overall. The hiss is definitely a thing, but I've learned to ignore it since that's the only issue. I'm going to upgrade to their new IN-8 3-way monitor in a few weeks.

For me, I can't stand the uneven fatigueing treble of the Adam TxV speakers. Also much worse vertical off-axis and a crossover in the sensitive area of our hearing (2.6k I believe). Whereas the Kali LP-6 is smooth.
Difference even comes across on bad youtube vids:

Front port of the Kali's will also be better in most setups.
