And a big +1 for:

Seaweed Audio - Fathom Synth

There's a somewhat limited, but still very good and versatile FREE MONO version and the extended PRO (polyphonous) version.

Not only does it allready have many very nice features and possibilities. It's being further developed at a staggering rate. And towards the top of the market (I guess).

You can find some of the development(s) / plans at the Fathom Synth KVR forum

Really worth trying the FREE MONO version to see what the fuzz is about.

It's linear/modular approach to additive/spectral synthesis is quite unique. It can generate tons of sounds you cannot (re)produce with other synthesizers/techniques.

Not a start synth though. If you step away from the (hundreds of) preset you need quite some knowledge about sound/partials/spectra/modulation etc. to get where you wanna go.

There's a nice RANDOMIZE feature to help you get inspired.

Strobe 2, Kontour and some Reaktor 6 ensembles as I have bought these recently :) Otherwise I always enjoy playing with the same synths that I already have for years :D

Since 2.9 is fairly new ;-)
Have to root for:

KV331 - Synthmaster

https://www.synthmaster.com/synthmaster.aspx

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C81Ky-DIBxc

Very versatile. Way to many superb features to mention here....

OK, just some of them:

- The massive amounts of modulation sources (95+) and modulation targets (650+).
- The very versatile an usefull oscillator section (including shaper functions, single cycle waveforms and wavetables...) with AM and FM options.

The update for Omnisphere 2.5 makes an already incredible product, more powerful. What I really like about it is all the new hardware synth soundsets and the multitouch support. Omnisphere is really blurring the lines between hardware and software.
Good point!

Been playing with the Pig all evening. By Pig I mean Arturia's new synth Pigments. It's currently my favourite synthesizer.

Pigments and Dune 3 are my newest synths that I'm absolutely loving. And let me add to this Rob Papen Go2, a little bit older but it was a surprise for me how versatile and fun it is to use.

Effect-wise, I've purchased a staggering number of them this year but BYOME takes the cake. I feel like I've barely scratched the surface and can already get some amazing effects out of it (plus it could technically replace most other effects to boot).

STL Tones multi-amp suite TONALITY blew my mind. I tried it last week for the first time and I can't stop using it. It's just incredible for almost any genre.

i really cannot wait Massive x for february !!

Another vote for Synthmaster 2.

I got Synthmaster and ANA 2. Both are great, but soundwise, nothing stands against Dune 3. Best VA ever.

This is an older vst, but iris 2 is tempting since it is only $49 along with trash2. Other than that I’m just waiting on synthmaster 1.2 and 2.9.9 before version 3 is here

Out of curiosity - which commercial ensembles did you buy?
