Does anyone know if it is possible to turn off auto-scaling for VST3s in Ableton 10, the way that you can do it for VST2s? Reason 11 is advanced enough to be offered only in VST3, but I would like to have it run at its tiny native resolution as it looks pretty blurry on my Surface Go.

Right click on it in the browser and disable auto scaling.
But if you disable it it will be very small, so I'm not sure that's better...

I see that option for VST2s, but not VST3 - all I see is the ability to change the color. Am I missing something?

Perhaps the option is only visible for high-DPI aware plugins (like U-He, Arturia, Madrona, Fabfilter, etc.) so that you could disable it and use internal plugins scaling mechanisms, that always yield better results. I don't have Live anymore so can't verify this, but you seem out of luck :(

BTW, I don't think it matters whether it's VST2 or 3. VST3 supposedly makes scalable plugins easier to program, but that's still not something that's given by defult - developers still need to do it.

OK - thanks. I agree that it shouldn't matter whether you are using a VST2 or VST3 plugin - the option to turn off auto-scaling should be there for both. Maybe I am not looking in the correct place.

It's all here and it indeed says it "doesn't apply to VST3 devices, which are scaled by default" :(

Yes, thanks. I saw that, but am wondering if "scaled by default" necessarily means that you can't select something other than the default - in other words, no scaling for VST3.

Do you have any VST3 plugins from U-He or Arturia? Check if they're stretched or actually switch to the higher-res GUI and you'll have your answer. I'm betting on the latter. That's why I bugged Bitwig devs to add that option regardless whether plugin reports it's high-DPI aware or not. Let the user choose the best option for them.

That is a good idea - I'll check it out. Thanks!

The options to disable auto-scale on VST3 has now been added with 10.1.2 so you can now disable just like your VST2 plugins
