How to use video with Ableton10 and Windows10 ?
i just followed the ableton faq and it does not work

Download and install Haali Media Splitter (also known as Matroska Splitter). This should work.

Could be more specific than 'does not work' - Is there an error message, nothing happens, you cant see the file in the browser to import, it imports but is all garbled ??

In my system I had problems with video playback in several software (not only Live), I found out it was GPU problem (driver, most likely), they started working after I disabled the discrete GPU for those software in the GPU's driver.

Maybe manually updating the GPU drivers and also Windows 10 would fix it too, but I got lazy and I got Win 10 Pro for the express purpose of deferring updates longer.

the video file is loaded in ableton, i can here the audio part but the screen is black

It sounds like you might have a missing codec - although I know some people are against it (some see it as overkill) I've been a user of this since KaZzaA was alive (the 'K' in the name), and yet to come across a video/audio file I can't load or edit: https://www.codecguide.com/download_k-l ... k_mega.htm

It depends on the system, it is not on Live itself.

For example, my system has a AMD Radeon GPU, it has a "AMD settings" software installed with the drivers. I found Live's EXE in it and set it to "Power Saving", which keeps it from using the discrete GPU.
