The Swedish key harp is nice! Now, since you seem to be on a mission recreating traditional instruments, how about a (few variations on) hurdy-gurdy, a.k.a 'vevlira' in Swedish?
It's de rigeur in medieval music and might even make for an interestingly different take on a drone in root blues, for instance.
