Mostly older incadescent bulbs. Got one diode bulb, will check that.also, what lighting are you using?
Already checked the fridge.
Not that far, given I have all the cables plugged. But found no relation between noise level and distance between extender and PC. Will try to move stuff around later.you suspect the psu, is there any way you can put some distance between the pc case and you/the mic/monitor.
By PSU I meant the fact I have no ground pin in this room, so entire setup is floating... From what I checked, it's unacceptable for precise gear such as microphone.

Hey cool idea! Here a few tips.
If you are using a webcam to record yourself in front of your computer screen then maybe consider getting a teleprompter app. With a good script and a bit of practice you can put together a decent video and look good at it too.
Not sure about this but maybe worth a shot.
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/p/telep ... verviewtab
Second thing would be to maybe pick up a cheap decent DSLR (used) camera like the Sony A6500. Most webcams you use will compress the heck out of the footage filling it up with visible compression artifacts. Then once you upload that into youtube, they often compress it even more. It’s really best practice to upload a video using the best quality to get the best results.
The A6500 is a great little camera! I’ve tested it out and it can capture awesome visuals. It has the XAVC-S codec, captures 16:9, high ISO for lowlight shots, records 4K UHD etc. One of the nicer things about the a6500 is the line in for attaching something like Rode Video mic pro.
https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/ ... html/specs
For sound i would recommend a Rode Videomic Pro. I’ve tested this out with a Sony FDR-AX100K Handycam and it provided very good results. This will work with the Sony A6500 i posted above as well.

This kit might be a bit on the high side, but if you’re serious about this it might be worth considering for the long run.
As a side bonus this can be upgraded with something like the Ronin-S gimble for getting super HQ selfie action and for recording smooth studio walkthroughs etc.
https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/ ... lizer.html
IF all that is a bit too pricey you could pick up something like the Canon Rebel Eos T6 with 18-55mm lens ($399.00 usd)
One thing this doesn’t have is support for PAL. It also doesn’t have 16:9 ratio for recording (if thats important to you or not).
https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/ ... _dslr.html
It lacks a proper audio line in but you could do audio sync the old fashioned way with a Zoom H5 ($280 usd) and a clapper.
https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/ ... order.html
The Zoom H5 is pretty decent as a low cost field recorder. The mic preamps are a bit noisy though when cranked high. You can get a decent shotgun Mic which attaches to this for fairly cheap called the SSH-6

While VORT3X's gear remarks make sense I recommend to not pile up more costs at this very early stage. I've seen too many aspiring Youtubers starting with verve but then losing motivation quite quickly (for various reasons).
Let this baby grow, and if it needs new clothes (so to speak) you can invest more money. For now, rather invest time.
Hope you can fix the mic-problem, because this is really critical. Good luck!

ps. The spectrum video was helpful and informative (2ct). If you continue like this - content wise - you should gain some subscribers.
ps2. If possible, provide an Ableton file every now and then. It can be basic, just like the one you used in the spectrum vid. Especially beginners will be very thankful for a starting template.

This rings loud warning bells for me: a condenser mic with an XLR output and no dedicated power supply (like a valve mic) will always need phantom power to work properly.DJ Warmonger wrote: ↑Sun Dec 29, 2019 7:14 am It's a condenser mic for podcast, with great opinions all over internet. I tried to plug it to phantom power, but that only made it lounder and didn't improve SNR.

The mic https://en.tracer.eu/microphone-set-tracer-studio-pro
Originally comes with XLR to stereo jack cable, intended to work with PC mic input.
Dunno WTF is that actuallyCONDENSER MICROPHONE– Internal chipset and PCBA of microphone is designed for simple use, which requires no additional phantom power to power up. Just insert the 3.5mm pin of the microphone into the audio jack of your desktop, then there you go

Sorry for interrupting your fun, guys, but I'd like to know if you could tell anything about recorded sample I posted:
https://soundcloud.com/djwarmonger/raw- ... ut/s-jeva0
Yes, it's noisy, but why?

In the meantime I learned that this microphone is in fact cheap electret microphone, not suitable for professional use.
Either way, I was hoping I can get away with it thanks to extra noise reduction and other DAW magic. But it's way worse than recordings I found online, to the point of being unusable.

The mic seems dubious to me, I think an upgrade is in order.
Don't know what your budget might be, but the Aston Origin is a really solid mic for not much money. IMO.

hey dan
listen to this guy! i dont watch his youtube(sorry dan, dont really watch much audio stuff beyond hw demos) , but, i know he knows his audio.
the mic does sound a bit suspect, sounds more like it's made for people to use for skype type apps rather than audio work.
