Reproducing pads from Korg Wavestation on an Access Virus TI.

Hi there

Have been trying to learn about wavetables etc. by attempting to recreate the pad at the beginning of this song (which, from an interview, I believe was done on a Korg Wavestation).

This is probably a fairly noobish question, but does anyone have any tips for choosing waveforms? Or is this generally down to experience and / or trial & error.
