Sound Mangling/Breakdown Seb Taylor

Hi,

I wonder how the mangling is done in this tune by Seb Taylor aka Shakta.

There is some kind of lead coming in at 1:45 and is altered to a breakdown at 2:06.
Then it goes on and and on like crazy.
The song was released in 2001 so there should be a lot of analog gear be involved.

Any hints?
