What do you feel are Izotope's best mixing/mastering plugins? What do you use the most? I know Ozone, RX 7. Anything else you recommend paying attention to? Thanks.

I use Ozone for mastering, rx for restoration, an old copy of Alloy for mixing. I guess that would be Neuron these dayz. I also use Trash for fx.
They’ve been overtaken by bean counters but their software is quite good IMO.

I don't think the lineup has too many plugins to pick out bests for each category. It's:
Neutron - general channel strip
Nectar - channel strip for vocals
Ozone - channel strip for the master bus
RX - corrective treatments

Plus some misc plugins like Insights for metering, and some FX stuff (VocalSynth, Trash).

The channel strips have plenty of overlap. IMO the way to think about it is to make a choice if you want to be in the Izotope ecosystem. I.E. do you want to use Neutron as your go-to channel strip for mixing. Do you want to use assisted mixing. Do you want to use "magic box" tools like the Sculptor.

(Also, do you have the CPU for this stuff, it's pretty heavy. I don't think it's possible to mix an entire song using Neutron without rendering some tracks.)

Iris is a great synth just not updated for a long time. Trash is a nice sounding distortion just a bit on the harsh digital side. RX is the crown jewel of their line up then followed next by Ozone.

Nowadays the only iZo mixing software I still use regularly is RX and the transient shaper in Neutron. And StutterEdit, Breaktweaker and Iris are all great creative plugins I haven't found better alternatives for so far.
Btw, never sold all the other licenses for other products I still have, with new upgrades and crossgrades coming in every few weeks lol...

I really like Exponential Audio Nimbus and R4.
Seem to become my go-to reverb plugins...

Reverb

Nimbus for “clean” to modestly lush reverb, R4 for modestly lush to more experimental.

Or the surround sound versions....

(I use either Nimbus or Relab Sonsig A instead of R4)

+1 RX, I need need need it.

I also heavily rely on the dynamic EQ in Neutron 2 (which I reach for over Pro-Q3 even).

Otherwise Trash is good fun but I've gone off Ozone as of late... rarely use it (Fabfilter has better comps and limiter).

Just to clarify, Ozone and Alloy aren’y necessarily my first choices. Sometimes yes. Isis v.1 is fun. Rx is a tool i use all the time.

Also curious on this. One of the things that annoys me the most from Izotope strips is the dynamic eq. I don't get them. None of it makes nice clean sense, the threshold, the amount, the way you have to place it to make it work. When it kicks in and by how much. Personally I would describe it as the worst dynamic eq I have ever tried to use. So really curious how you use it because I feel I'm missing something.

Stutter Edit is the best in what it does, if you're into EDM stuff. It's just right and lets to dial great FX withing seconds.

I agree that Ozone, Neutron and Nectar overlap. Also, Trash does - same EQ and multiband compression.

I really don't understand the point of the question. Surely the tool (ie, reverb, stutter effect, etc.) is more important than listing stuff from a single brand.

Do you need noise reduction or compression? Or you're just interested in spending money?
