Hi, I was wondering which EQ you prefer to boost the mids of whole song in a nice clear way? Adding clarity?
I have elektron analog heat and it doesn't have mids, I boost lows and highs and I need some for the mids for mastering!
I am after Voxengo HarmoniEQ, do you suggest something else? Even in analog gear!
Thanks!

I'm using SonEQ. Its mid section makes it very easy to add some body to a sound. It's my favorite EQ for boosting stuff... and it is free
CrimsonWarlock aka TechnoGremlin, using Reaper and a fine selection of freeware plugins.

Tokyo Dawn Labs SlickEQ M can balance your mix quite nicely.
Just demo it.

I would recommend PSP Neon HR. It's very clean and natural sounding. For a bit more color I'd probably go for IK's 432 EQ which has a nice tone while still being "controlled", sort of. I also had some great results with DDMF LP10.

I don't use any of these because I've become partial to the visual parametrics. But all of these are great EQs that just happen to be free:
TDR Slick EQ
SonEQ
PTEq-X (Pultec style)
If you want visual parametrics, also free:
TDR Nova
lkjb QRange (new, there's a thread going right now)

I'd use a mid side EQ and boost the sides on the mids. Melda's free EQ is great for this, also one of my favorites for this is Soundspots Overtone because it adds a nice saturation as you boost. Voxengo has a similar one.

I've been trying really hard to find fault with this plugin because it is Soundspot. Other than the fact that in/out knobs seem to be beyond the price point with these guys, try as I can there's nothing wrong with Overtone.
Honestly, no noise or weird harmonics. I'm not hearing any odd ringings or buildups. To nitpick, the high band gets narrow, but if you are using the 15k band to add a narrow bell that's on you.
Everything else is nice. Simple parameters to keep it easy. Stereo or M/S, and that touch of tasteful saturation but only if you drive it, much like a hardware counterpart, but with the added meter to show you by how much.
I'm done questioning my choices with this one. For now Overtone lives on my 2-bus until it gets replaced by Slick M. And maybe even then. (Quick reminder that I got it on sale for a few bucks.)

If you manage the cost and learning curve DMG EQuilibrium has a really clean clear sound. It allows the user to dial in various EQ methods and resolutions to get the best sound for the source.

Yeah I hear you, Soundspot's plugins are so hit or miss, and some of they're misses are really bad. But they also have some absolute gem's in my opinion. I absolutely love Firefly as a bus compressor for drums or sometimes on the master when you need more thump and glue.
Axis is an impressive linear phase multi band upwards/downwards stereo imager.
Hiku makes everything sound better to, like wider and clearer.
And recently I've just tried Kinetic, they're compressor, EQ, saturator plugin and man it makes things sound really good. The comp and drive on that thing sound really good.

I've read here, a lot of people suggest character/colored EQs... Well, I suggest some digital/clean EQ with Mid Side & analyzer (like DMG Audio, Sonnox, FabFilter etc etc...) to cut/fix (surgery) and vintage modeled/colored/character for boost (large/big curves)...

This is one of the best! And cheap - for what it does! But do you want to add harmonics? Hey, you can switch that off from the drop-down menu, and use it as a clean digital equalizer!
