No, but a) that's how it was ALWAYS done and b) compared to how much old studios charged, this is insanely, insanely, insanely cheap.

Well, no, not officially. But we've been known to let people rerun their sessions for free if they just need a bounce or two with slightly different settings. We really want you to go back to your DAW with better sounding tracks and if you paid for that, we'll move heaven and earth to get you there.

In other news, we are going to add both multitrack support to the web version as well as release a streaming plugin that would plug into and sync up with your DAW. That way you could get the context of the DAW tracks.

To be completely honest though, most of our users use the service as a "warming up tool" for "after tracking before mixing" time (not sure it has a name ... mixing prep?) which is more about color then fitting tracks together. Or for mastering / pre-mastering, where you only have a stereo buss to deal with so the context is all there. But I still want us to get to a point where we could honestly cover mixing too.

We are super happy to announce that G24 Passive/Aggressive compressor from Gyraf Audio is now available on Mixanalog.
"For the longest time, I doubted if this would really be possible. It's not easy by any measure - the guys from mix:analog have committed a genuine technological miracle making the G24 remoted without compromising sound or functionality. It makes me really happy that our G24 can be part of demonstrating such game-changing technology - and I really like that people from anywhere on the 'net can now access and enjoy this piece of hardware directly from the safety of their own speakers"
- Jakob Erland, Gyraf Audio
The G24 is an entirely new kind of optical compressor. With its fully passive signal path it sounds clean and very expensive at the same time. In a unique twist, the G24 contains not one but two separate side-chains which you can use individually or blend together. In essence, with G24 it feels like you are using two distinct compressors in one box.

The controlling circuits, which make it possible to use G24 through Mixanalog from anywhere in the world are implemented with relays, in tune with the mastering-grade build quality of the Gyraf Audio brand. The user gets full control of the G24 through a plugin-like web interface and processed audio is streamed back to the user so that they can hear their settings and changes in real-time and in lossless quality. Sample rates up to 192kHz are available through Burl Mothership converters. Response of remote control is instant, latency is as good as 40ms in Europe.

Gyraf G24 will be free to use until the end of December, limited to 30 minutes per user per day. To experience it on Mixanalog all you need a good internet connection of at least 10Mbit/s. Later you will be able to reserve it in slots of 15 minutes for a modest fee.

Besides Jakob, the unit was tested and approved by mastering engineers / owners of the first two G24 units produced, Emil Thomsen of ET Mastering and Bob Macciochi of Subvert Central Mastering. We had few beta users over the weekend try it and they are enthusiastic about the possibilities this compressor offers.
