I'll use the internal EQ, reverb and delay in Logic, maybe a couple of others, but I use 3rd party compressors (loves me a Fairchild 670 emulation) and occasionally a Pultec EQ (though Logic has its own emulation of that, now). Jury is still out for me regarding using the built-in verbs in various VIs over the Logic ones in terms of CPU efficiency.

This look suspiciously like BBE's Stomp-Board interface (which only came out last year).
chk071 wrote: Tue Feb 12, 2019 4:53 pmFair enough. Logic might be the golden exception to the rule then. :)
Not really, it was always a big attraction for Orion and for most of its life it was all anyone had in Reason. I imagine a lot of FL users also rely very heavily on native effects and generators. It certainly has plenty. Even on this thread, a lot of people are saying they use Live's built-in effects.

they wouldn't be the first to ripoff logic.

What is that? As in, what's it for?

Vienna Ensemble is a plugin hosting rack from Vienna Instruments (ginormous orchestral libraries), and it's often used to host samples on a secondary machine. I'm neither a fan nor do i see how is it necessary on modern machines, but hey.

In fact Tracktion is doing this now too. Reaper has some unbelievably good JS effects but because of the AirWindows-esque GUI nobody knows about them
chk071 wrote: Sun Feb 10, 2019 11:52 am Well, that's sort of the problem. Developers who do DAW can't necessarily code effect or instrument plugins. And not every company is as big as Apple, and can easily buy in external stuff. I agree though that Presonus should do something about that. After all, good included content is always a argument for the buyer.
There are new LBX strips for some Reaper included plugins like 1176, DBX160 and Fairchild they look great. Check on next page of the forum too for 500 series coming up:https://forum.cockos.com/showthread.php?t=206847&page=2

Caveat, I'm just a hobbyist and my mixes don't have to please anyone other than me lol! Like others, I find the built-in Logic plugins overall quite nice. That does NOT stop me from chasing the "ooo shiny" everytime there is a sale :) The plugins I have "replaced" include piano and electric piano, when there were sales on Garritan CFX lite and Scarbee ep88 respectively. I feel these are miles better than the instruments in Logic. Flip side, the Logic b3 organ sounds great to me, so I haven't really felt compelled to run out and get vb3/blue to replace it. Synth-wise, Alchemy, Sculpture and even the "lowly" retro synth etc are great, but I've added various others. Magware, freeware, and now Diva and Repro from the recent sale. Ultimately I want Kontact (and bang for buck, Komplete) so I'll have various others, really looking forward to Massive X, fm8 and Reaktor. I'm eventually going to get Zebra and at that point I can't imagine I will be looking for more synths (but I probably will!).

Once Logic added Chromaverb, that scratched an algo verb itch. I did pick up Xenoverb, which has a shimmer, and have my eye on every one of the Valhalla plugins lol! Waiting to see what the new Valhalla tape delay plugin will be like. I like the Logic compressors and the new vintage EQ. At this point (actually long before now) I have no excuse to not be making music :) It's fun to chase new plugins but at some point you gotta sit down and do something with them :D

I use Cubase with its stock plugins all the time. The studio EQ is very straightforward to use as it's in the channel strip, so I very rarely need any other EQ. I really like the vintage compressor and DaTube. The multiband compressor and Quadrafuzz are awesome tools but kind of situational. The maximizer sounds very transparent so it gets plenty of use as well.

Not all of them. I find that most work OK, but the two that always seem to fall down for any DAW I own or have tried are reverb and flanging.

Nothing beats a hardware guitar pedal for flanging (although some are better than others), and there aren't too many reverbs that sound really good unless you spend money on them.

Ironically, I couldn't get along with Logic's pedalboard OR the guitar amp sims--though it was for guitar, not synths. I much, much prefer the tones I get from s-gear and a free tubescreamer plugin I grabbed. IRs helped the Logic amps a bit but it still was pretty bad. Then again, I'm a pretty bad guitarist so ymmv! I like the bass amp designer, on the other hand.

me neither, and i'm a decent guitarist. probably one model from the amp designer does it for me. but i'm running different guitar sounds lately so it's not a problem.
Sgear doesn't do it for me either. am demoing mercuriall reaxis atm
Love the bass amp designer.

Wow - very nice, Mr. discoDSP. Great variety and imagination - it doesn't sound like the same old stuff I usually hear from here (and the same old stuff coming out of my little studio). What are you using for your lo-fi traps?

I use mostly Live's fx, some of them I like a lot, some others are very easy and fast to use.

But one big reason to use Live native fx is the UI, closing and open plugin windows gets annoying after a while and Live native effects UI allow a very fast workflow when editing in a single channel, you can see quite a few at once and jump to one another.

I feel that overall when using Live native effects my brain isn't overloaded from looking at 5 different GUI's with different conventions, colors and displays.
