DC1A DC8C

Post

Hi all,
I've just released major updates for the compression monster DC8C and its free little brother DC1A. boing

DC8C 3
Image
platform independent preset browser with easy copy/paste/save-as-default
AB-ing
GUI-resizing
meter can now operate as a peak meter with peak hold indicator, on stereo tracks the peak meter shows both left and right channel information separately
AGC (automatic gain reduction)
linear phase oversampling filters
option to set separate oversampling factors for realtime and offline/rendering operation
saturation has a separate amount control
optional soft peak clipper at the output
lowpass and highpass sidechain filters can be set to 12dB steepness
overhauled compression algorithms
overhauled EASY modes
switching from one of the easy modes to expert mode doesn't change the sound anymore. So choose an easy mode, tweak and then switch to expert mode for deeper manipulations if needed
external sidechaining for all formats
VST3 support
and more...

DC8C3 costs 23 €.
The update is free for existing DC8C users and can be found in their Klanghelm user account.

DC1A 3
Image
overhauled compression algorithms
dedicated mix control to enable parallel compression
VU-meter can now display either gain reduction or output level
DC1A3 is free.

Due to the many changes and the use of a new framework, both updated plugins have a new filename and plugin-ID. So you can use versions 2 and 3 side-by-side in your projects.

YAYYY!!! Thank you! Downloading now...

Beyond technical improvements in an already-awesome product, I'm especially delighted that you've implemented a resizeable GUI.

Whoops,
Tony path .. long time silent and then a bombshell ..

1. Super generous for existing customers
2. Excellent manual
3. Back to dll downloads (possible to add presets/path info?)

I wouldn`t mind to pay some bucks for it Tony,
at least a donate button?

Cheers and thank you!

This has made my day. It being free for existing users (of which I am one - yay!) is just the icing on a very rich cake.
Nice one, Tony! :tu:

How's the color on both compressors compared to their older versions? Do they have AA?

The path for the user presets can be found in the manual. Or here :)
macOS: /Users/<username>/Library/Klanghelm/DC8C3/UserPresets/
Windows: C:/Users/<username>/AppData/Roaming/Klanghelm/DC8C3/UserPresets/

If the user presets folder doesn't exist yet, it'll be created automatically, when you're hitting "save to file.." in the preset menu.

Super, thanks.
I was at the stage of visiting user area, downloading, quick look into manual, explaining components.

So .. don`t have more time atm but ..

Wonderful, wonderful creation,
starts in easy mode, less initial overcharging.

- Useful arrangement of 1x realtime & 4x offline/render startup,
- Vast shape options from smooth to super tight,
in all cases yet basically transient friendly compression, very forgiving
- Scales look clear & pretty from 50% to 200% (first glance).
- I think versatile is the best circumscription

For some reason v2 didn`t click with me, v3 does.
It either shows how stupid I can be or something changed to the better.

I love the most how it deals with transients.

Tested: preset "drum parallel punch",
compressor is calibrated to -18dbfs, so "input" on expert mode = muscles.
"Mix" at around 75, threshold -40
and then just played with attack = spectrum of all variations needed for drums.
(Additional clip cuts spikes).

Fun, fun, fun, thanks again
and pssst .. donation button ..
