The only way to review something is to demo it. Besides, most reviews are simply a regurgitation of features. You have to play it and hear for yourself.

Am I the only one who thinks that nearly every one of these can be used effectively if you know how to eq properly and it doesn't really matter what others say? When Pete Thorn does a demo, it sounds like Pete. When Ola does his constant chugging he sounds like Ola. You are going to sound like you no matter what, it's simply preference.

(whoops, mistakes)

Some good tones can be had from it still. I tend to use others instead (I do use it on synths a bit though!) but I still find it useful!

Totally. One of the best plugins for a real good vintage tone.

IK recently updated the modelling in the Slash collection

Until now, I always used Positive Grid products (Bias Amp, Bias FX, Bias Pedal) and I'm really happy with the results and the huge possibilities to customize the sound. But now I can't wait to try the new TH-U by Slate Digital and Overloud, it feels like it will become my go-to amp sim.

The problem for me with Positive Grid isn't the sound (which is good) it's the stability and the constant having to log in. Not sure if it affects other this way or not but I finally gave up. They do use more CPU than the AT4 stuff as well.

Horses of courses.

Site should be called Shitty Amp Sim Reviews. Guitar Rig is more of a joke nowadays.
Guitar Rig has good effects and pedals. Try running those into Amplitube 4 heads.

Own most of them, TH3 and Helix get the most use.

A4 Fender2, A4 Orange cabs, SGear, Kuassa Creme and Caliburn and BiasAmp/Fx and WOS cabs.

I mainly use SGear as my main Amp Sim, other occasionally: Most of them sound OK as long as you go in with a good signal (I go in via a Laney Iron Heart valve pre) - A real valve pre only costs the same as a VST modeler and makes more difference than the subsequent modeller IMO.
X32 Desk, i9 PC, S49MK2, Studio One, BWS, Live 12. PUSH 3 SA, Osmose, Summit, Pro 3, Prophet8, Syntakt, Digitone, Drumlogue, OP1-F, Eurorack, TD27 Drums, Nord Drum3P, Guitars, Basses, Amps and of course lots of pedals!

Treble booster aside, there are not a lot of pedals in GR5 not covered in AT4. If I were to run one into the other I would run AT4 into the Stereo retune, delays and reverbs of GR5.
Even if the piano player can't play, keep the party going.

Line 6 Helix is smooth
GR for multi effects
Scream for authentic circuits
Steainberg Amps has a nice tone, really good for stock and currently Im finding these a goto for distorted drums and lifting bass
Waves are well worth a look.

I really had liked GR5 and could still get very good rock tones and nice fx but not being updated sold it. It needed some TLC and wouldve been a keeper
