Just up: a brief overview of convolution reverbs and some links to IR sites at BPB:
https://bedroomproducersblog.com/2019/0 ... everb-vst/

A question: I own Best Service's convolution reverb and IR files from past times (EMT etc). What would be the best for newer reverbs specifially - is it still Peter's Bricasti collection at Samplicity? I wonder since that collection is eight years old.

I assume that in terms of newer reverbs, Briscasti is the goldmine (?).

Releasing now is Dr Bonkers presents the Dr Bonkers Guitar Cab-Oddities™ Volume 14: PVH515 4X12 IR File Cab Pack based upon a 1999 Peavey® 5150® 4X12 Straight Guitar Amp Cab, this cabinet is voiced with Peavey® 5150® Sheffield 1200™ 16 Ohm 75w speakers, made in Meridian, MS, USA, that were voiced to match sound of Eddie Van Halen's favorite Marshall® cab that had broken in Celestion® Greenback™ speakers. Available in Fractal Audio file and various WAV file formats.

As usual there are sound clips and pictures on my site. Click on the pull down menus and pop out tabs (words with a grey background) for lots of info including history and famous players who used such a cab. If English is not your first language, click on the translate button at the top of my site for many language options.

For Logic Pro users:
Just tried and bought the Space Designer Manager from 3R Audio.

All these interesting IR files on the market are now quickly usable within (very capable and good) Space Designer. If you want to import a lot off stuff into Space Designer this tool is recommended.

It costs 29€ and can be found here:

Some of THEE best plate/chamber IR's out there. I was turned on to this website after someone asked about good reverb for drums. The drum IR's on this work miracles! I use two reverbs now. One is SIR with those impulses, and the other is Kaejarhus's reverb which works very nicely.
Great tips, Thanks!

Well, it's not often you get IRs from former test cricket fast bowlers. :o I remember him also being a musician when he played for Zimbabwe, but didn't know he was also into this side of it too. Nice one.

If you want the Bricasti sound, sure. If that's what you're interested in, check out LiquidSonics. There is a Fusion-IR set available for Reverberate 2, and an emulation in Seventh Heaven. The latter is more accurate (to the extent IRs can be) to me but there are demos you should try. It is good to have Reverberate 2 as an IR loader, it has very good control, true stereo, can load two impulses (e.g., for ER/LR), great CPU usage. But you cannot make your own Fusion-IRs.

Feed it reverbs from this post, mix and match, and you're set. Lots of good stuff from EchoThief, Henry Olonga, Balance Mastering.

"NOTE FOR PC USERS:
I often get mail of PC users of a similar program like SIR requesting for wav files. I converted some IR files to 24 bit interleaved .wav. But please don't send me mails if i would like to convert the rest of the ir's or how to convert them to use for pc. Its a lot of boring work, and personally i have no use for the files. Find a friend with a mac to do that for you."Quote

Looks like someone has done the conversion.
Came across them being hosted on a mirror as wav files, along with Altiverb impulse response configuration information.

I've just recently released an insanely comprehensive impulse response library of the AMS RMX 16 reverb. The one I sampled comes from Townhouse Studios and was the very unit used on many records by Peter Gabriel, Kate Bush, Phil Collins and many other bands. It's 194 individual impulses of every algorithm and so far everyone that has used it has been blown away by the accuracy of this library.

It's available here:

Releasing now is the Dr Bonkers Guitar Cab-Oddities™ Volume 17: AHA 2X12 Cabinet IR Collection based upon vintage 1989 ADA® T2-12C Slant Face Split Stack™ 2x12 100w Guitar Amp Cab. This cabinet included 2 of the original Celestion® G12S-50™ 12 inch 16 Ohm speakers. Available in Fractal Audio file and various WAV file formats.

This type of cab was the choice at one time of Kirk Hammett, Paul Gilbert, Vernon Reid, Nuno Bettencourt, Jason Becker, and so many others if you look at my site tab or the cab maker's ads back in the day that are still searchable online.

As usual there are sound clips and pictures on my site. Click on the pull down menus and pop out tabs (words with a grey background) for lots of info including history and famous players who used such a cab.
