I had a somewhat heated exchange over mail with an anonymous support agent a while ago and the conclusion (if I understood it right) was that AA plugins bought before 2019 have a transfer fee of 25€ and after that it is in practice more or less everytime 100€ (25 + received discount with 100 as max).

Is it right that with Eventide you just need to transfer the ilok license to the new owner? I'm a little puzzled how they then get downloads, updates etc. Thanks.

Hi,
if you sell an iLok protected plugin, you first have to pay the iLok license transfer fee,
which is in general $25 for 1, $50 for 2, $50 for 3 and $50 for 4 and so on.
Then you have to type in the iLok username of the new owner.
The new owner will get an email from ILok that a plugin (or more) has/have been transferred to his (iLok) account.
He then has to log into his (Eventide) account and download the plugin.
When he dowloaded and installed the software and starts his DAW, a message from iLok protection will be prompted to verify.
And since you transferred him the plugin, there will be no problem.
And he will also be able to download the latest versions of the plugin, if there will be any in the future.
That procedure should work with every iLok protected plugin no matter from which company...

Note:
The new owner must of course have an ilok account and an Eventide account...
Hope that helps... :phones:

Hey guys. I want to sell two Vengeance plugins (Multiband Sidechain & PhiltaXL), so i contacted them to find out how this works with them being on an eLicenser dongle. This was their reply:
If you want to sell your plugin, please send the buyer your dongle with the license on it (alternatively you can move the license to an empty dongle and send this one to the buyer)

In order to add the new customer to our database you just have to purchase the following item:

license transfer:
https://secure.shareit.com/shareit/cart ... &js=-1

purchase it 1 time for every plugin you want to sell and send us the new owners Name and Email

thats it, you do not need to do anything more. The new customer will then be in our database and he will receive technical support from us

the customer can download the installers as usual at vengeance-sound.com / plugins / updates

IMPORTANT: like mentioned above, you will still need to sell the
license physically to the new buyer (your dongle or an empty dongle) You can
move your license on a new dongle simply by plug it into your
computer and drag and drop the license from the old dongle to the new
one. It is NOT possible to do this online. Wen can NOT transfer the
license to the new owner online!
Is this how you would usually transfer a license on an eLicenser dongle? Surely this can be done online without having to send the buyer my dongle? Between the cost of a new dongle, p&p and the €31 fee they want, it would end up costing me to sell the plugins.

Buyer beware. Just got caught out by Tone2. Please be aware that they will not transfer a license if you received a discount at the time of purchase. The other thing to be aware of is they won't transfer if a license was purchased from a third party seller.

https://www.tone2.com/license.html

If they do allow you to transfer they also charge €20 to transfer and the licence becomes NFR.

Wow! That 'discount' clause is a killer .... so if you buy direct from Tone2 but in one of their (regular) sales you're not allowed to sell the plugin .... WTF :dog:

This is really helpful. Cheers to the OP!

It seems as IK Multimedia licenses become NFR after a transfer. This just occured to me for the first time, but their support just confirmed. They might still allow it, but you're depending on their goodwill. Quite a bummer, I have to say, this might make me think twice before buying another IK product.

I finally followed up with the implementation of an idea that I had a while ago and created a public google doc that shall contain license information, transfer policies and fees of audio software vendors. It is free to everyone to add informations.

Actual content
Here's the public doc
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/ ... sp=sharing

and here's the form to create a new entry:
https://goo.gl/forms/x4zCBuLQsoP2PVOy2

PLEASE LOOK UP IF THE COMPANY IS ALREADY IN THE TABLE BEFORE CREATING A NEW ENTRY!

Statistics:
https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIp ... wanalytics

The goal
The goal is to make license policies comparable, to create some pressure on companies with very strict or non user-friendly policies and also to create one single place people can go to and look up information when they plan to sell their licenses.

Old thread
Lots of information also in the old thread, especially on individual support cases and more vendors. The old thread is here, you might wanna use the search function:
viewtopic.php?f=43&t=354654.

Feedback
Comments and suggestions about form&doc are very welcome!
If you represent one of the companies you're welcome to contact me via private message if you have questions or if the information in the table is incorrect.
This is great. I've just completed the google form with Sugar Bytes info :)

Warning to all BeepStreet plugin users - purchased second hand license of Sunrizer and they said all the license transfers "are held for now". They don't respond on Facebook anymore. Really disappointed

Amongst other things this means that these companies do not charge any transfer fees.

U-He
TAL Software

Arturia
Native Instruments
XLN Audio
Toontrack

U-he charges a fee if not kept 9 months.

Crave dsp transfer policy: Customers who bought their license directly from our website can transfer their license for free. Second hand licenses incur a transfer fee of 20%.

Got this checked with Caelum Audio today:
We don’t allow license transfer for our plugins at this time.
