I love Serato Sample but having extensively used the demo i can't shake the feeling it's just a bit too expensive for what it is and for what I use it for. I really enjoy the musical auto-slicing and being able to lock slices while replacing the others with new slices but I don't give a monkey's about pitching a slice across a keyboard - I can export a suitable slice out of Sample and into my DAW's sampler in just a few seconds more and I have far more control and options over it there than in Sample.

Is there anything else out there that offers similar slicing features to Sample?

Bit of a cliche answer, but the slice mode in Ableton Sampler. :P

Actually free and honestly more powerful after their version 3 dropped last week.

I've got Bitwig and it would be my complete DAW except for a couple of omissions... a slicer being one of them!

Checking it out now! Thank you!

The pitch & time shifting in Serato sample is going to be tough to beat, in my opinion. If you care about that, then I don't think there's a better cheaper alternative. If you don't care about that, then there are tons of alternatives.

EDIT: If you get on their mailing list, there are occasional sales. I got Serato Sample for 1/2 off (so $50) about a month ago. Much more palatable price.

EDIT #2: Serato Sample is now 30% off at PB. https://www.pluginboutique.com/product/ ... 113-Sample

Note that the time and pitch stretch is in only in the pro version of TX16WX.

Oh yeah, I thought this was one of Bitwig's strengths? (although I suppose the pitch and time in Serato is probably better)

Fun fact. We were on the Serato Sample tech team, and now have our own outfit. This is what we are doing > www.algonaut.tech
