I've just got a Microsoft Surface and put my 16000 MP3's on it. Every media player I've tried is rubbish.
Are there any players out there that any good?
Recommendations please!!

So which ones did you try so far?
How come your verdict on these was "rubbush"?
What are your acceptance criteria for "any good"

I've tried iTunes (mangled the library eg every Brian Eno solo album is listed as 1album)
VLC and Groove music don't have a usable search function.
I'm after a player with the features iTunes had on my iPad in particular a search function that will search just artist or composer.
Thanks Twisted Space I'll have a look at those.

Personally I use foobar but it was already mentioned so you can also try MusicBee:

I use Windows Media Player. Used foobar for a while, but, never really liked the interface. I also tried Groove Music, but, that interface confused the hell out of me, so, i stopped using that as well.
There aren't many good music players IMO... actually, i think i even enjoy Google Music more than anything i mentioned.

To me, Winamp is and always will be the best of the best music players. Rock solid and works flawlessly even in 64 bit Windows.
And yes, I use its search function a lot.

If you're looking for something with the same feature set as iTunes, but without any of the screw ups, try MediaMonkey. The fourth time iTunes corrupted half my music library with one of their updates, I uninstalled all things Apple related and I've never missed it.
MediaMonkey will sync with Android phones too.

I third Music Bee as that is where I have settled (not that I think it perfect) after Plex which is good but poor for control of how you see your library (I loathe A-Z as it makes no sense) and Now Playing album cover view.
Music Bee Documentation is a bit obtuse and the Dev is a bit, um, KVR about feature requests or any sort of discussion. BUT it does what it says it will when you are on top of it.
The new Media Monkey 5 may be worth a look too.

+1 winamp... has a plugin (addon) you can get that uses 32bit VST's so you can use a better EQ with it. the plugin has not been updated (nor winamp) in quite some time so jbridge's downgrade from 64bit to 32bit gives it probs... but ain't had a single problem with 32bit plugs and imo any media player you use needs a good EQ cheers
