Making a DJ mix using a sequencer

A few years ago I put together a 'mix' of sorts by importing some tracks (made in eJay!) into a sequencer and just editing levels and EQ to make transitions between them. Recently I've thought about doing a mix in the same way with actual tracks, but I don't know if people would consider it cheating to mix them like that rather than using actual software/equipment? I'm definitely not looking to get into actual DJing (I'm more focused on production) and this is just something I'd want to try for fun, but I wouldn't want to trick people into thinking that I had mixed it like a proper DJ. I know I might just be overthinking this, but I'd just like to hear what people think.

for your own enjoyment?
why not
so long as you are not claiming to be the next [insert famous dj] then what's the issue? it's just arranging songs to be listened to.
most radio shows are done this way these days, very few djs in that arena still cueing individual tracks. then they just talk over outros and intros.
