Aahh - a whole bunch of great themes on the previous page: I remember, that about the same time there were 3 films, which were all important and essential at the time for the young people: the Deer Hunter by Chimino, Apocalypse Now by Coppola, and Hair by Forman. The two later soundtracks of course the Doors and musical Hair.
I saw the Fly in 1986, and was really afraid.
The Naked Lunch is just great.

Damn, actually I'd forgotten all about Bwian Walden. There were so many great themes from this era, managing to capture a frosty aesthetic of the Cold War.

Heh, 15 pages and no Philip Glass? I saw Mishima recently and right from the opening synth arpeggio thought that the movie was going to be ruined by the score, but by the time it was over, I honestly wouldn't have it any other way:

I also thought his score for The Hours was really good:

Would make a good (but exhausting) double feature, actually...

This one's a fond favourite from my childhood too :D

First and foremost; In the House, In a Heartbeat. Awesome song in it's own right, but is also the perfect theme to represent the mindless/unrelenting drive of the zombie hordes. :borg:

(This version's awesome)

Just to mention something that I don't think anyone's done yet, I'll add the Twin Peaks song.

But this is a classic.

There are so many great themes, but Laurie Johnson's "The Avengers" has always been my goto for first place. Hard to find it in good fidelity, though. :(

Here's the 1965 version:

And the 1966 OMG Color TV! version, with outro, too!

We shall see orchestral machines with a thousand new sounds, with thousands of new euphonies, as opposed to the present day's simple sounds of strings, brass, and woodwinds. -- George Antheil, circa 1925 ---

Best upbeat capitalist propaganda of the '80s, hands down.
