How do you feel about all these sales?

My guess is if it was on sale for just 1$, it's because it wasn't selling and they were looking for ways to get their money back (the cost of development).martinjuenke wrote: ↑Fri Feb 08, 2019 4:03 pmYes, this offer is ridiculousbitcrush01 wrote: ↑Fri Feb 08, 2019 2:35 pm I doubt anyone is spending $128.60 for Hybrid 3 after it was on sale for 1$...
Selling it at 1$ is good advertising and a way to get new customers into knowing them. These customers now have a foot in the door, if they liked their experience with Hybrid (which is great by the way) they might as well give a try to other products made by the same dev. It's about building confidence in the brand. It works if the products are good, which in this case they are (Xpand2 is also worth getting, even at the 19$ current price).

Not as much as when their products are pirated, which maybe one of the reasons many have gone on sale.

I am relatively late to the whole plugin paradigm. Before that, I used either a hardware synth, or a JV-1010. When I bought Logic 7 Express in 2007, I needed, or wanted sounds inside the box. Thus began a journey that cost me more than I would like to try to calculate. Being naive, I'd see some offer, and go 'wheee! I can get that cheap!' Tell my wife, 'honey I can get this really cheap, and it will improve our/my recordings!' It took me a while to perceive the almost perpetual sale prices, and now I don't bite. Too often. I have more than enough software at this point (heresy, I know).

Xpand!2 was on sale for $1 as well, so it wasn't only Hybrid 3. It's rather the opposite of building confidence here, because why would anyone pay over $100 for one of their instruments when you can't be sure that they are - sooner or later - going to give them away (for $1)?SampleScience wrote: ↑Fri Feb 08, 2019 8:53 pm My guess is if it was on sale for just 1$, it's because it wasn't selling and they were looking for ways to get their money back (the cost of development).

I think what happens is that whoever is visiting Pluginboutique during such a sale just buys it no matter if its going to be used or not. That is 100% of all. I guess if its lets say 20$, its going down to maybe 5% as you would not buy it if you would not use it or not need it at all... It would make the same amount of money...
The high price they put up now will leave those 100% aera customers with the good feeling that they made a real bargain (and they did) and they will come back to the site regularly... And then there are new customers who just read old reviews and never heard about those sales... Its worth a try...

No, Air made they're money back on Hybrid 3 before it was even released as a VST because it was an exclusive license under Pro Tools. That's why Air puts all they're plugins on those crazy $1 sales because they're really old and already paid for in full yet they still so well coded and sound great.
And now Air has the contract with Akai to produce plugins for they;re hardware because software get's cracked too easy so they moved to hardware.

Sure, it's also possible that - despite NI's 50% off-sale - someone buys Diva or Repro from: https://u-he.com/products/Its worth a try...

Air was acquired by inMusic, owner of Alesis, Akai. M-Audio etc., i guess, to complement their hardware, keyboards and controllers. Apparently they don't need to make money directly from selling Air plugins. Nevertheless it is bizarre that they still sell Hybrid 3 for $149.99:SoundPorn wrote: ↑Sat Feb 09, 2019 11:54 am No, Air made they're money back on Hybrid 3 before it was even released as a VST because it was an exclusive license under Pro Tools. Then people will be deprived of Diva, Repro, Coco, Twangs, Presswerk and Satin. Because the price is staying up, where it is
If anything, we'll expand our customer base by a couple of thousand people who will lust for Hive, Zebra and all the other plug-ins which are *not* part of the sale (and not *yet* NKS ready)
I think it's a brilliant move of us to let NI run a broad campaign and hand us over their customer base. It's also a brilliant move on their side to snatch a whole lot of our customers into their newsletter and make them lust for NKS keyboards, simply also because our stuff has a really good integration with those - afaik we're the only company whose NKS ready plug-ins can export 3rd party sound banks to NKS including full tagging and dynamic controller assignments.
It's a win-win, the sale itself is just a short disruption which will soon be ancient history, while the long term effects will ripple much longer.

About NKS... How would I make my current Diva, Bazille and Zebra HZ presets NKS format? Do I need to own an N.I hardware product such as Maschine or Kontrol keyboards?

No, you just need to run the VST version and follow the instructions in the user guide (set preset format to .nksf, then select presets and right-click batch-export to nksf)
There's also a trick to include a library name using a text file, but I'd have to look it up, any I'm not sure it's available in Diva/Repro yet.

Aha thank you Urs I'll look at that and I'm really enjoying the Repro I just purchased. Just sold a hardware synth on eBay coz Repro sounded better to my earsUrs wrote: ↑Sat Feb 09, 2019 2:32 pmNo, you just need to run the VST version and follow the instructions in the user guide (set preset format to .nksf, then select presets and right-click batch-export to nksf)
