I'll be listening to "The Cars" for awhile. Their frontman, Ric Ocasek, was found dead today.

"Moving in Stereo"
One of the things I always loved about The Cars was even though they were a rock band with two guitarists, they fully embraced synthesizers and they liked to experiment with new sounds. They weren't at all afraid of sounding different than most of the music on American radio at the time. This was always one of my favorite songs from their first album.

Just one more "Cars" post for now. This time, it's a remaster of the entire "Candy-O" album.

I don't know how I'd never heard of it (or the band) before, but 38 years later I've finally come across "Some Marvels of Modern Science" by Diagram Brothers.
It's genius post punk - reminiscent of Gang of Four, Wire and Subhumans. They apparently had a ruleset 'Discordo' that they stuck to where they had to use fast disco style rhythms and discordant chords. They're from Manchester and one of the main brothers ended up in James.

Anyone who can make you believe absurdities can make you commit atrocities.
