I am currently listening to early pretenders .. this is mostly being spurred by the fact that i am finally getting around to reading her biography. I was a fan and never made the social connection between Akron, Ohio and late 60s radio. I mean, I knew she was American and the Kinks connection, but I didn't know she was a music groupie in the flowerpower era and early 70s -- so the music of the early Pretenders is a hodge podge of late 60s and early 70s rock and roll influences packaged in the form of a UK band with a US female lead singer.
