So... I thought, f**k it, and decided to buy a license for Z2! I know it's now abandoned, but the sheer quantity of sounds available makes it a worthy purchase at £88.32!

I don't think it's fair to say that Z2 is abandoned. As far as I know, there are still plans to do maintenance updates on them. There could even be a chance that some new features that got into Filterscape (like Note Expressions) could be backported to Z2. I don't know for sure, but I'm hoping for that.
At least for me, having CLAP + Note Expressions on Z2 would be a huge upgrade!
But yes, we cannot expect any new exclusive feature updates on Z2. U-he should really spend the time to put new features into Z3 instead!

That would be good if things got updated, but as it is it's a great synth.
